I just talked with the financial aid office, and they were able to tell me the exact gpa/lsat cutoff point at which they start offering scholarships. I assumed that it wasn't a holistic, 'he seems like a 78k kind of guy' sort of thing, but I was surprised that, number one, there's no leeway (3.59/180 gets no-offered), and number two, that they were so open about where it is. It's 3.6/168 for non-URMs, by the way.

So if you have a 167 does that mean you'll never get a dime, even after negotiation? Im 3.8 Gpa so that limit seems super arbitrary, and kind of unfair. Oh well.[/quote]


I've heard several stories from current UT Law students that they were able to negotiate scholarships with 166s, 167s, and high LSATS/lowGPAs through the scholarship matching program. I believe those cuts-offs are for the initial scholarships and they'll seriously consider other offers for candidates slightly under during the 168/3.6 distinction during scholarship matching.

my understanding is that UT will match the cost of attendance... UT is already less expensive that many other peer schools, especially if you're tx-resident, so I think it's important to keep that in mind.

it'll be interesting. i cant see USNWR wanting to drop the first school to be added to the T14... it'll aslo depend on who they bring in.

Denied at 4:02 am. It only took two weeks. Yikes! Anyway, this is my farewell love letter to Texas.

Dear Texas,
I knew it was a long shot, but I had to try. Thanks for shootin' straight and not allowing me to hope longer than necessary. I'll take responsibility for believing the "we look at every individual application regardless of numbers," line. It was too quick a decision for that to be true in my case. I'll always remember the good times we had Austin. Please keep your eyes on me Texas, I'm not giving up on getting into a tier one law school. It's like you say, "til Gabriel blows his horn!"

Hello everyone. Has anyone on the waitlist paid a visit to the school? I'm from New York and will be in Austin in two weeks. Unfortunately, it'll be during a weekend so the school will be closed. Worth mentioning to the school?
