UR since 11/18, still alive... Time for an LOCI? Did we decide that email is ok?

Hmm, my UR date is 10/19 and I'm still alive... I don't know what this means. I don't know if I should send an LOCI because honestly I don't have much to add. Nothing has changed, really... and I also wrote a bit of "why stanford" in my PS itself. So, not sure what to do now.

Yeah, Dean Deal had a blog post a while back where she said that email is the best way to update your file. I sent a LOCI by email a few weeks ago. I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference, but I wanted to let her know that I was still very much interested in Stanford. The admissions office wrote back and said they would update my file. Everyone there is really chill and nice.

Has anyone tried scheduling a meeting with an admissions officer or Dean Deal after submitting their app? I'm writing a LOCI, but since I live close by, I would rather convey my passion to go to Stanford in person rather than through email. Would they be open to this?

Similarly, has anyone tried visiting before they are accepted?? Any thoughts on this?

Is there a status checker update that comes after "submitted for review"? Like "Complete" or "Decision letter sent"? Or is it all email/snail mail/phone calls from here on out?

It changes to decision letter sent if you're dinged. I guess it changes to that if you're in, too, but if you're in you get a phone call, or an email if they can't get through to you.

DLS  . 12/2. My first and only rejection of the cycle so far =). Doesn't feel as bad as I thought it would. In fact, I'm a little honored that Stanford has been my only rejection  .

Good luck to everyone else!

Sorry whiteguy5. Hopefully you hear good news from HLS and CLS soon.

I thought the change to DLS happened at once for a group of people per day. Didnt know it varied.

Thanks to all the well wishers and good luck to all of you too!

I know it's not REALLY a surprise/I've already had a cycle a lot of people would kill for--but it does sting a little because I still haven't heard anything back from CLS and I was hoping I would have by now.

Good luck to everyone else here. You guys are all great/you're going to do big things!

Ugh! That is miserable! I feel for you. Then again, that would be a pretty early phone call for Dean Deal

Haha, I know. I knew she couldn't possibly be calling at 6:30 am, but I couldn't help but get nervous for a second! :)

Haha... this just reminded me of the posts I was reading way back on Berkeley about someone claiming Dean Tom called her at like 11 PM and then this one dude was like, "Ohhhhh did you guys have phone sex for 10 hours  " :P

Haha, I'm not really worried. Still it's a reach school for me so it would be awesome to have that option! (ETA: Obviously Stanford is a reach for pretty much everyone...) I guess it would just be nice to get my cycle over with once and for all, though!

I don't know if people with your UR date have gotten DLS or not so I don't know if you are safe for now or not. But its def not to early. From past cycles they start making more URM decisions in early March...if you think your update will greatly help you app (e.g new job, award etc) then i think you should send it.

Why are my chances still intact when so many of my stronger comrades have been denied?

Why am I special?

Do I have some special destiny to be fulfilled?

Does God have some special plan for me?

I think I am beginning to understand the meaning of "there are no atheists in foxholes."
