anyone know median GPA for nova? Just curious with my stipulations; maintaining 3.15, is this a fairly standard stip?

Re: Villanova 2011
I got a pretty good scholarship today which is making me consider going here (I can give numbers in PM if people are waiting on scholarships and are interested). However, the stipulation is a 3.15 and I'm not sure I want to risk this since I have other offers from similar schools with a stipulation. (Rutgers-Newark with a 3.0) Is there any way to negotiate Nova down to a 3.0?
Edit: I see most people have the stipulation of 3.15... Would it be better to ask for more money or is it easier to get the stipulation lowered?

So, my status checker page still says "complete" from 2/10. Is it possible I am under review and they haven't updated it yet? Do I have any hope left?

I don't want to comment on whether you still have hope (unless you want to give your numbers), but your status will say "In Review" once you go...in review.

Eh, what the hell do I care? 2.5 (or 2.47, to be more specific) and a 159. The GPA is obviously terrible, but that's because I was a math major for a while, as I explained in an addendum. My in major GPA is around a 3.2. Plus, I've been out of undergrad for a few years.irishvt14 wrote:I don't want to comment on whether you still have hope (unless you want to give your numbers), but your status will say "In Review" once you go...in review.
Last year, Villanova rejected me quickly, perhaps quicker than any other school. I figured that if I applied earlier this year (I finally went complete very late last year because of the February LSAT), I might have a better shot, at both 'Nova and some other, similar schools, like Richmond, Pittsburgh, and Kent. I have been under review for a decent amount of time at some of these places, but I am not sure what that means.

No, that's the 25%. The median is 3.33. The 75% is a 3.56.beach_terror wrote:3.15 is median.Ghenghis Khan wrote:anyone know median GPA for nova? Just curious with my stipulations; maintaining 3.15, is this a fairly standard stip?
I have the fact sheet right in front of me, so these numbers are correct.

Are you talking about 0L gpa or median for actual VLS students...

They're talking about gpa stipulations for keeping scholarships.

OK, so basically at least some of the scholarships have a stip that is at the median for GPA? That doesn't seem too bad.
Current 'Nova students, is it really tough to maintain that GPA?

I'd say no, but everyone is different. 1L classes are curved to a 3.0 so you need to lock down a few B+s to keep your scholly. 3.3 is top 1/3, 3.4 is typically just shy of top 20% (22-23% based off what 2Ls have told me).. just to give you an idea of how GPAs correlate to rank.Bless wrote:OK, so basically at least some of the scholarships have a stip that is at the median for GPA? Just make sure you don't drink and drive; Mainline cops like to hide/do random check points on Lancaster ave.

I received my award information from Villanova. Can I get a rough estimate as to how much I'll be paying for books? What's a good COL estimate?

I'm hoping to find roommates. The rents look very reasonable. And I'll likely have a library lifestyle.

FYI for minority students: I'm not sure how to apply for it but I randomly received a $1,200 minority book scholarship at the beginning of the fall semester...
Sorry I can't provide any more info on this... Maybe you can look into this.

10k is probably a solid amount COL wise for an apartment with a roommate in Villanova. 600/month for rent (7200/yr) gives you a good chunk of change for utilities, food, etc. I'm living on 8k, but I'm a frugal dude.Bless wrote:I'm hoping to find roommates.
