is it too late to apply to stanford? i heard stanford is somewhat like yale in that they wait to make decisions?

Yeah, I definitely think we will be hearing some decisions this week.

To my knowledge, it isn't completely non-rolling like Yale, but it's definitely a "black box" so might as well submit an application.

+1 to both. From here on out there really isn't much of a dead week, other than Stanford's spring break. The only caveat is there isn't much of any more "waves" (not that Stanford really has any), unless you count the huge waitlist/rejection stream in April.

I think Dean Deal has said before it it not that much of a hindrance to submit later, except after the deadline date. After that, she is not so nice.

Some people stay on until April and then get admit, deny, or waitlist. Being in review for a long time does not necessarily mean denial. Dean Deal really seems to care about giving you every possible opportunity, and likewise likes correspondence every now and again.

Well, she likes LOCIs, but she always repeatedly says to not send her frivolous things. She wants real substantive updates, If you haven't already, read these blog entries, especially the comments on the last one, as she explains to a few people what are and are not substantive updates.
