Hm, about how many JS1s are offered typically? ~1200?

If that's the case, then given by the estimated number of acceptances already made (combined with the number of JS1s who are still waiting for a JS2), I think there are a bunch of people headed for post-WL JS1s. I could be completely wrong, but that's where it seems like a lot of us, especially the super long waiters, still left are heading..

Right, but that ~850 accounts for their yield, and that number has historically been pretty consistent. So those who leave for YS/T14 would be included in that 850.
I was the one who brought up the WL yield thing initially. I don't think they have made close to 850 offers yet. My initial theory is they make about 600 offers (pretty subjective estimate, depending on the number of people who make up their mind and withdraw prior to the second ASW) pre-April ASW, and let the actual number of people who deferred/went to other schools post-ASW dictate how many more offers they need to make off of the WL (this assumes WL and second ASW are roughly concurrent). FB group size might be an inperfect but approximate indicator of how many offers they have made.

Just so we're clear, I didn't mean to suggest they have already made 850 offers, just that I think they've done at least 850 interviews.

It makes sense that they wait till post-ASW to accept people off of the WL, but I think they would have already interviewed enough people to fill this potential WL->Accept group.

Yup, I think they've stated they want to conduct roughly 1200 interviews.

I hope you're right! And seems like once you make it to the wait list, it's not that rare either!

how is it possible that a >75/>75 person got outright rejected? that's 4.0/176+...mylsn gives such a person close to a 100% shot of getting in...

I've always wondered about this. Obviously admissions aren't about numbers only, but it seems like in many of these cases no major flaws really jump out either.......

So last year there was a small ding wave on April 2nd and fairly large waves on the 3rd and 4th in which applicants with decent numbers were dinged. It seems like there wave a small wave this Monday (a few on LSN), a large wave yesterday, and now we wait for today...............

That seems consistent with what (I think you've) reported before, that this cycle seems to be slightly ahead of last year's both in rejections and acceptances.

Do you recall when the next wave (if any) of JS2s occurred after those ding waves? If not I'll take a look in a bit when I have some time at the office.

The next action after the April 3rd and 4th dings was a large waitlist wave on the 5th, followed by a JS2 wave on the 8th.
