Re: In at Duke!
I assume the whole 10-day response thing was a one-time offer, correct? In other words, even if I write a great LOCI tomorrow, I have no reason to expect a prompt response. My understanding is the WL process can last well into the summer of a given cycle.snickersnicker wrote:Really looks like YP in your case. 172/3.6, while a moderate split, is pretty good for Duke. Unless you have no softs or wrote a horrible PS or something. Maybe try a LOCI.
I don't really know much about Duke or how I feel about going there. If I don't get into my ED school, Duke wasn't as much on my radar as a backup as, say, Northwestern or Michigan or Virginia. I just know it would have been a great feeling to be officially admitted to a law school, and this was my first shot. For all intents and purposes, I'd say Duke probably took themselves out of the running with this decision.

Pretty sure just the waitlist. I'm not sure what priority reserve is. I saw a piece of a conversation above with someone in the same situation. The snippet of the email he posted was the same one I got.Torvon wrote:Actual waitlist or priority reserve?LieutKaffee wrote:Ugh, waitlisted. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for my cycle.

Re: In at Duke!
Priority Reserve applicants are admitted at various points during the cycle as people start to turn down admission offers. Also, Duke usually taps the PR list before going to the wait list after the seat deposit deadline. Your e-mail would've read "We have completed a thorough review of your application, and would like to offer you a space on our Priority Reserve list for this year's entering class.", if you were on the PR list.LieutKaffee wrote:Pretty sure just the waitlist. Ah, okay. Regular waitlist for me. If I was an adcomm, I'd put the YP-victims on the WL and the borderline candidates on the PR. That way you make the overqualified prove their interest while automatically accepting those you almost accepted as spots open up. I'm really hoping this decision is more a YP than a reflection on my application. Or I'm pretty much screwed.

When'd you get your acceptance? When did the status checker chance? When did you go under review/complete? Thanks......really nervous.

Hey-- I'm abroad so timing is a little off for me. When I went to bed last night, the status checker still said under review. I first went under review on the 12th (submitted the 11th), then under review again the 19th. The acceptance came sometime very late in the workday (Duke-time) on Sunday based on my gmail time stamp. Don't worry, you'll hear soon!

Re: In at Duke!
anybody who is not PT and whose under review status changed dates last week hear anything yet? I'm wondering how long final review takes for those of us without PT apps...

Re: In at Duke!
It's quite possible they're YPing, but I was admitted on Friday off priority track with a 171 and 3.7 gpa. I tacked on about 2 lines at the end of my personal statement to say why i was interested in duke. perhaps you could submit a brief letter of interest.LieutKaffee wrote:Ah, okay. reject 171, 3.6. Wasn't in top choices, but still any rejection sucks. Thankful I only spent $12 on the application. I wonder if I sent my Why Michigan essay to Duke?

A straight-up rejection is kinda crazy in November. Have any theories as to why?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
