Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
Yeah, I put off doing mine but then scheduled a time for it like I would a regular interview and that helped me get it done. I had some technical difficulties and still got in, so don't stress about it.lc39 wrote:I think a lot of people who had objectively terrible likelive interviews (myself included) have been accepted so don't worry too much. Yes, it's horrible. But it's over quickly.mr.plum wrote:I've read too many horror stories about this like love interview. Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
My interview was really awkward as well. I didn't time it, but it couldn't have taken more than two minutes. I got three very similar questions (why Cornell, why Ithaca, why did you choose your undergrad), all of which had just about the same answer, and that threw me off my game.
Also had one I didn't see posted on the list:
Describe the undergraduate class that you found most interesting.

I thought I bombed it as soon as it was over, but after re-watching I think I did fine. My own voice sounded weird as hell to me (whose doesn't?), but my answers were fine. A bit vanilla, but fine.
It's natural to micro-analyze right after, and freak yourself out, but I think most of you probably did a lot better than you remember.

No question! My interview would've been hilarious for me to watch if it wasn't for the fact that it was my own terrible sales pitch to a school I was trying to get accepted to. I'd give my Sunday to watch a plethora of other similarly hilarious attempts.NoBladesNoBows wrote:They do watch them, but it has nothing to do with their offer. Fortunately for me as you said it has nothing to do with admissions, or my video, in which I only answered 3 questions, had a phone call ring in middle, and was overall a 1/10, would've resulted in a rejection.

Admitted today via status checker after a horrendous LikeLive on Wednesday (which itself was a resubmission after technical problems).

Thanks USN! It just backs up what everyone else said- don't stress about a seemingly horrible interview!usn26 wrote:Haha, typical. Congrats NH!nickhalden wrote:Admitted today via status checker after a horrendous LikeLive on Wednesday (which itself was a resubmission after technical problems).

At this point it sounds like the adcomms should probably wonder what's wrong with someone who actually managed to do well on the interview...

Is it true I have to complete FAFSA, Need Access, and both my parent's and my own tax returns for merit aid?

Yes. Cornell is the only school I applied to that requires all of those. Blargh.nickhalden wrote:Is it true I have to complete FAFSA, Need Access, and both my parent's and my own tax returns for merit aid?

Just follow the instructions on the financial aid information sheet and you'll be fine.
Merit = form only
Loans = add in FAFSA and student tax returns
Need = add in NeedAccess and parent tax returns

Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
For those of you who did the interview and got accepted - did your SC change after you finished the interview? It still says 'interview requested' on mine
My date changes are - 1/28, 2/6, 2/9 and interview request on 2/11. Pretty similar to those posted above.

I had a date change from the "Interview requested" status (text stayed the same), then got the acceptance email later that day.gleewien wrote:For those of you who did the interview and got accepted - did your SC change after you finished the interview?
