Ahh, that's a really great background! Way to go! Yes, VA resident.

What kind of stuff do people normally write about in "Why UVA" optional essays? I'm sort of drawing a blank and don't want to sound overly "bullshitty."

Depends on what you want to do. If you have an idea about where you'd like to end up, find out how uva gets you there.usernotfound wrote:What kind of stuff do people normally write about in "Why UVA" optional essays? I'm sort of drawing a blank and don't want to sound overly "bullshitty."

Is it suggested to write a Why UVA? I applied late october and have not heard anything. I submitted a diversity statement instead of a why essay

Yes, unless you covered Why UVA in your diversity statement or personal statement.theoutpostmhs wrote:Is it suggested to write a Why UVA? I applied late october and have not heard anything. I submitted a diversity statement instead of a why essay

I submitted a couple weeks back and didn't include one either. Should I send one in? Or too much of an afterthought?

I've talked to quite a few applicants who I suggested to send one in after they submitted, and they seem to have been getting a good response. I say go for it.krispymenudo wrote:theoutpostmhs wrote:Is it suggested to write a Why UVA? I applied late october and have not heard anything. I submitted a diversity statement instead of a why essay
