Feel free to PM me for more info about my stats or more info about the call, I'm sure I'm outing myself by posting today but I can't help it, I'm ecstatic.

I am of the firm belief that YLS twitter should be used only to announce admissions calls.

OMG admit call at like 9:30pm Eastern time on President's Day! SO not expecting that!! (And definitely outing myself here, but now my cycle is over so I suppose it doesn't matter too much anyway!)
For those interested, I was a late submitter (mid January), I did have two academic recommendations, GPA was 3.9x and LSAT 174. I thought my personal statement was quite strong but I really didn't feel good about my Yale 250, so hopefully that will give others hope!
I can't tell you all how surprised I am (I was in line at a clothing store buying a bra when I got the phone call and had to excuse myself to freak out in the intimate apparel section... a little embarrassing). Wow. Good luck everyone!

according to the yale blog, applying late in the cycle doesn't put people at a disadvantage...how does that work?spek wrote:114 people including 3 administrators.thederangedwang wrote:Hey, I posted in the in at yale thread but havent gotten a reply..could anybody tell me how many people are in the admitted students yale FB group?

Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
bump. asking this because i'm getting a rec written specifically for yale this week and still haven't finished my application. it worries me that over 1/3 of the seats seem to be filled already. i could turn in my application with the recs i already have on file, but this one is going to be written by a prof of mine that went to yale...Geneva wrote:according to the yale blog, applying late in the cycle doesn't put people at a disadvantage...how does that work?spek wrote:114 people including 3 administrators.thederangedwang wrote:Hey, I posted in the in at yale thread but havent gotten a reply..could anybody tell me how many people are in the admitted students yale FB group?

Mid December, I waited so much longer to submit than I did for other schools because of that darn 250.

Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Let me preface this by saying I may be completely wrong about this, but I perceive Yale does not have a disadvantage to applying up to the deadline because of the way the faculty committee evaluates applicants is not like an actual adcomm in which they will do periodic reviews with rolling admission and thus applying late can hurt you because there will already be stacks of similar applicants to be compared against. With Yale, if you are sent to faculty review, you will be given scores and eventually your app will make it back to the admissions department at it's own speed with scores from different faculty members that need to reach a certain total. Since each faculty member grades differently and at different times, the application process runs at a different speed and it's selective in a very different way.
Anyways, congrats to the new admits!!

Early afternoon British time, but must have been one of the first calls of the day Eastern time. Still trying to convince myself that actually happened - and it doesn't help that caller ID on my phone doesn't work for international calls!nametaken wrote:You got the call this morning??? He said he'd be e-mailing me soon - is that normal, or just because I'm international (so mail will take longer)?

No, I received an email maybe 20 minutes or less from the time of the phone call, it will have info for the facebook group and such to access before the mail will come.
