So guys, I just called the admissions office, and if you've been admitted and didn't get an email yesterday, then you're not getting a scholarship. I'm gonna go ahead and send them a negotiation email and see if they'll give me anything, but it looks like they decided to make my mind up for me.

So they aren't giving out $ through today like they said? I despise STCL admissions more and more.jacketman03 wrote:So guys, I just called the admissions office, and if you've been admitted and didn't get an email yesterday, then you're not getting a scholarship. No, they apparently lied to everybody that they told that to (big surprise, I know).TT09 wrote:So they aren't giving out $ through today like they said? I'm so motherf***ing pissed right now. Again, I wasn't expecting much, but I thought 2K-3K was warranted.
I have 25,000/yr at another "4th tier" school. Come the F on.

It just strikes me as odd that they give out a day's worth of scholarship $ and then decide to stop right there. Wouldn't you think they would start rolling it out on a semi-daily basis for a bit...?

Just called and confirmed that all scholarships for currently admitted students have been emailed out.
I'm about to change my Avatar again, this time to Oklahoma.

Already drafting it. Not sure if they will even think twice at schools that have offered me 75% tuition, since they wouldn't do that for even a 180 4.0swilson215 wrote:Oh no! All I wanted was SOMETHING.

Also mentally drafting a "F reading comp" letter for LSAC, because my score would be quite a bit better without it.
edit- after cursing like a sailor for a few minutes, I put a chew in (yeah I know) and calmed down.
Politely drafting a reconsideration letter.

Screw South Texas.... I guess they would rather stay a fourth tier law school and avoid attracting better students.

Re: South Texas 2011
Yeah, so far this process has made me extremely pessimistic. I am very bothered by what some people have said in the comments from that link about STCL's administration cherry picking the data. I'd really like to know the percent employed (which coincidently the school did not disclose to USNWR rankings, although they chose to give the median starting salary of 70KTonio wrote:Man some of these pictures he has for these schools are making me a little sick. lol but i guess thats his intention

The more i think about it the more i think im just gonna go to Loyola in New Orleans. Its the most expensive but if im going to be doomed with a six figure debt in a dying legal market with very little hope of paying it off, id like to do it at home. Id hate to be trapped living in friggin Houston for the rest of my life, doing a job i dont want to do and working in an area of the law i never wanted to work in. Atleast when im done being miserable at my shitty low payign job in NOLA i can go get a muffaletta and sit in the uppers at a hornets game.

That blog post on STCL was bad, but take it with a grain of salt. There is some truth in what he is saying, but each student's situation is different! What you want to do and what you do with your J.D. determine your future - not rankings {or lack thereof}.

Be on some kind of organization, review, journal, etc. or be bottom of your class at a tier 2. Which would you hire? Put the work in and you're golden.TexasGE wrote:That blog post on STCL was bad, but take it with a grain of salt. There is some truth in what he is saying, but each student's situation is different!
