or they could write it in pink gel pen, so you´d be so busy going "ooh pretty!" that you wouldn´t feel you´d been insulted.

PM for #'s.
Plus the Dean wrote a handwritten note that showed he read my app. Very funny and nice guy - his note indicates he does not have the "no sense of humor snobbery" the stereotypical law school dean might have.
What is the deal with visiting?

Better yet, they could just stroke that Lawyer's ego and cross out the Mr. and add "Future Dr."ChriLa425 wrote:or they could write it in pink gel pen, so you´d be so busy going "ooh pretty!" that you wouldn´t feel you´d been insulted.

Notre Dame gave roughly the same scholly (a bit more), but after checking the 10 day forecasts in Atlanta and South Bend the choice is clear between those 2 LOL.
@ the student with the greek offer:
Can we ask for that? I'd take FREE HOUSING in a second!!!!!!!!

Does every scholarship offer come in the initial acceptance packet? I've looked through mine like five times and haven't seen anything.

Mine was mentioned in the first or second paragraph of the acceptance letter. This is the letter with the personalized note and handwritten first name / crossed out last name that everyone's been talking about.ATR wrote:Does every scholarship offer come in the initial acceptance packet? Yes. I believe that's what the initial "almost ready" e-mail said, and has been the case. It was in mine. I did not physically see the letter as I have moved since applying but it was read to me so I can't testify to the same letter but they did definitely both arrive the same day.

Agreed. There has to be a reason why they offer such a great deal. I looked into the requirements and it seemed like it would add a lot more stress that I want to deal with as a 1L.username99 wrote:Eh, I lived in a fraternity house...not something I'd want to do my first year of law school.

CORRECTION:
If you are admitted and awarded a merit scholarship, the amount will be indicated in your admission letter. Need-based financial aid will be awarded following admission notification with further information and instructions included in your notification. Because of the highly personalized review of your file, all merit-based scholarship decisions are final.
So if it's not in there, you didn't get any $. You can always resort to a hostage situation or whatever extreme means may bring them to the negotiation table.

Thanks for this. I'll re-read my acceptance letter when I get home. Maybe I missed it; if not, I'll be withdrawing.justadude55 wrote:CORRECTION:

Dude you have to have a scholarship with your #'s. Do you have major C+F issues? You're above both medians.ATR wrote:Thanks for this. I'll re-read my acceptance letter when I get home. Maybe I missed it; if not, I'll be withdrawing.justadude55 wrote:CORRECTION:

That guy already has 105K to UCLA. I think he's good to go over there regardless of the scholarship.

Yeah, that's what I assumed, which is why I think I probably just didn't read the letter y'all are talking about.justadude55 wrote:Dude you have to have a scholarship with your #'s. Do you have major C+F issues? You're above both medians.
True. To be honest, it'll take a hell of an offer for me to consider Emory over some of my other options.justadude55 wrote:That guy already has 105K to UCLA. I think he's good to go over there regardless of the scholarship.

This is what is confusing me with Emory this year http://lawschoolnumbers.com/gte166w (1 of many individuals with 18-20K offers), these numbers got $18K p/y last year where higher LSATs and GPAs are getting less this year.
Not that Emory is the only school doing this, ND seems to be giving a little lower this year along with W&L and a few others. It seems very interesting, maybe an off year for applications?

& IU is giving 120k like it's nobody's business. Will Emory fall in the rankings? My only fear is they drop outta the t-25 as to an extent we're betting based on the rankings. If IU supersedes Emory, I'd feel dumb wasting $.

keep in mind that class of 2014's numbers won't be reflected in us news rankings until next year. and even then it pretty much makes 0 difference if illinois moves up a spot over emory or not.justadude55 wrote:& IU is giving 120k like it's nobody's business. Re: Emory 2011
Just got in with 10K a year... Nice to be wanted but WUSTL gave me sooooo much more... And I want to work in SF so none of these schools are really great options... Kind of sad because I've always wanted to spend some time in the south.

I believe it is Indiana giving out the 120K, not Illinois. The rankings hardly mean anything. I just wish Emory gave me 5K more per year or even 3K more.fatduck wrote:keep in mind that class of 2014's numbers won't be reflected in us news rankings until next year. and even then it pretty much makes 0 difference if illinois moves up a spot over emory or not.justadude55 wrote:& IU is giving 120k like it's nobody's business. In w/ 45k. Similar situation to Littleblakdress...good offers from WUSTL and Emory, but my goal is West coast or Mountain West, so I donno. Nice to have options, tho
