I applied mid-February, got the "application complete" email on February 24th, acceptance letter on March 5th, no scholarship information.
I sent out 1 application... UNC. I'm happy I got in!

FunkyJD, I wish we could be real life friends so that I could bask in your positive glow all day. Especially after my brutal UNC waitlist.

So are we thinking that the next round may come not in a couple days, but the next Friday? I bet there will be a lot of movement at most schools during the next couple of weeks. Fun times.

lml, I am feeling your pain. I was talking to a neighbor who is a UNC 3L (admitted off the WL) and he was telling me about a classmate of his who was literally admitted to UNC on his first day of classes in Indiana. Hopped a plane the next day. ouch.lml09 wrote:FunkyJD, I wish we could be real life friends so that I could bask in your positive glow all day. Especially after my brutal UNC waitlist.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
My stats:
- Above median GPA (would have been higher, but the first year of college classes in high school hurt me)
Below median LSAT (provided explanation)
NC Resident
URM (I think I would have gotten in even if this wasn't the case.)
Ex-Military
Worked full-time during my UG
B.S. in Business Administration
3 LORs (1 from law professor, 1 from criminology professor, 1 from my manager)
Submitted required and optional personal statements.

This is awesome.
But...above median GPA + URM = can't fail.

Plus ex-military. UNC LOVES service men and women.lawhawk wrote:jcrojas wrote:

EDIT: BTW I think the love of service men and women is great and well-deserved. I can never get upset when I see someone who served get into a school. Congrats jcojas!

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Thanks for the congrats.
I think one of the main things to take from this is to be sure to include EVERYTHING that you can to make their decision easier, in your favor. I probably could have cut corners and omitted the explanation for why I felt my LSAT score wasn't indicative of what I'm capable of, omitted the optional PS, omitted the resume (I don't remember if it's required or not), or only submitted 2 LORs. I didn't want to get in because of URM or GPA; I wanted them to have no doubt that I wanted it and I was a good fit for the school.
Now I have to prove to them that they made the right decision. Good luck to everyone still awaiting a response.

Thanks, man. I'm just trying to stay in a positive frame of mind. I've done all of the feeling bad that I plan to feel over this application process. Time to try something else.Matteliszt wrote:Sounds like quite an exceptional application. Along those lines, I say Go Carolina, nice win over W&M last night. NIT < NCAA Tournament, but keep building for next year.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Your story is awsome. I am a prior Marine myself and I have similar numbers to you. Below 25 percentile LSAT and middle percentile GPA. I combined all of my ps's into one 5 page ps that addressed all of the issues even why my LSAT score was subpar. Any how, congrats on your acceptance and I hope I get the same results.jcrojas wrote:Thanks for the congrats.

Waitlisted at Emory today, but on the upside I avoided the waitlist/ding from UNC for another 24 hours.
Kind of sick and pathetic I consider that an upside to my day...

I'll be there. Sounds like it's an all day affair. I called this morning and they said to be there before 9 and to expect to be there until about 3:30.LSATfromNC wrote:Who is attending the ASD tom? I'll be there, just wondering if any other TLSrs will also.

Is it too early to ask if there was any movement from Carolina this week? Do they usually send acceptances later in the day? Anyhoo I avoided the waitlist letter today if they sent any.

From what I have seen, acceptance emails have been sent out relatively late, like between 6 and 9 PM Eastern.let0927 wrote:Is it too early to ask if there was any movement from Carolina this week?
