If accepted, how likely are you to attend?

Are you kidding? It's my first choice. Consider my seat deposit sent.

It's high on my list but it's not THE school I'm waiting to hear back from.

It's high on my list, but I can probably be swayed by more money from another school.

Meh... I applied because it's a T14 - we'll see how my cycle goes.

Really just plan on using it for scholarship negotiation purposes.

Still feel really unsure. I'll probably visit or go to ASW to get a better feel for the school/location.

It's first come, first serve based on when you send in the application form which takes just a few minutes to fill out and email to them. I did mine and got an email today that said I'll get a room once I submit my deposit and they start sending leases. Just in case anyone is considering living there and wants to lock in a spot!
I actually turned in the app to live there yesterday and got a spot confirmation today so, if I end up picking Michigan, I'll see ya' in the Lawyers Club!
Do you have to put in a deposit in order to hold your room? Meaning will you lose the room if you wait a long time to decide on Mich?
If you mean wait a long time as far as waiting til the deposit deadline, no. Submitting the app locks you into a spot on the list so that if you decide on Michigan and if you want to live in the LC, you'll be set. If you decide on another school or decide to live elsewhere in Ann Arbor, you'll just remove yourself from the list. There are really only pros to submitting the app now - it takes 5 minutes to fill out, give you a great option if you do decide on Michigan, and yet obligates you to nothing if you decide on another option. If you wait until the deposit deadline when you're sure on Michigan to submit the LC app, you run the risk of either not getting the room type you want (there are 3) or not getting a spot at all.

TL;DR send in the app if you've been accepted and think there is any chance you'll attend and want to live in the LC, no cons

So I got a reply from adcoms about not receiving my status checker. Apparently they haven't processed my app yet. It's almost been a month since I applied :|

I guess I just have to be patient.

Sorry it wasn't hidden in your email! That's what sucks about sending in apps during the winter/holidays... I'm sure if you count the amount of business days since the 19th, it's as if you sent it in a week and a half ago (I'm not sure what days the admissions office was closed).

So, since I missed out on almost a month of activity since my status checker was ready and running, can anyone shed some light on what the updates mean/if there's any rhyme or reason to them? It's been updated yesterday and today, but I have no idea whether that's normal.

Also just got Dean's scholarship info! Obviously very excited and grateful, but wondering how seriously we should take their stating that they do not compete with other schools. Do they really not or do they just not advertise it?

Updates everyday. A gift and a curse.
Seems like the tempo was a month before going complete and then another month before a decision, but that may be accelerating lately.

My guess is they don't advertise. I've definitely heard of people in recent cycles successfully negotiating Mich's offer.

Granted, maybe he'll end up working at/near the university, but I doubt it based on his field. Anyway, my real question is: what is public transit like in Ann Arbor? And if it's bad, how hard is it park on/near campus and would that require paying for parking?
There is no free parking around campus. You either get a parking permit to use at the Business School (super close) [https://pts.umich.edu/parking/students.php] or get the bus. The bus is free for students, but I hated them (especially when it's -20C or 0F outside). Traffic is not so bad (not a consensus here).

There is plenty of off campus housing nearby, in walkable distance, although those tend to be more expensive.
The neighborhood just south of the law school has free street parking but it's nearly impossible to get a spot there usually on a weekday. You probably won't want to drive to campus every day although I did know people who drove and just got/paid parking tickets all the time and considered it to be a $10/day parking fee. If you don't live walking distance and don't want to take the bus, you can rent a spot at a house/apartment nearby and drive and park there every day. Parking can run $50-$100/month for this sort of thing.

I never used the buses because I lived very close to campus, but I think people generally find the bus system to be fine. There is also uber if you're ever really running late or something.

I really wish I knew when my application went complete. It was already complete when I finally found my status checker email. I have no way to (sort of) gage how much longer I have to wait. I do know that I went complete in less than a month though because they sent me the status checker on 12/19 and it was complete when I checked it on 1/11. Fingers crossed for this month!

Anyone who was offered money mind posting their stats (or PMing me)? I was accepted mid December and right around medians, so I'm wondering around how much/if any scholarship I could hope for. I have strong softs, but I'm not sure exactly how much that's taken into consideration. Thanks in advance :)

ETA: Got in this week! Non URM, LSAT slightly above 75th, GPA<25th. Submitted first week of December so I'm feeling lucky that my app went through relatively fast it seems...
Hi Blue! Congrats on your admission! I understand not wanting to leave a dog behind and it's possible (maybe easy?) to find pet-friendly apartments if you look early. I have a handful of friends with dogs and there is a day each fall where law students bring their dogs to campus to play in the law quad, so there definitely are quite a few around. If you want the Lawyers Club as a fall back option, send in your application for an LC room now (you're not committed to anything until they send the leases out and you sign it in like May) and plan to check out apartments when you visit campus for ASW. If you find something you like, just email the Lawyers Club person and let them know you're withdrawing your application. If not, you'll have it to fall back on for 1L. It's not hard to find things, but you have to do it a little early.

I go to Michigan for undergrad, and I've tried buses and parking. There are parking lots all around campus that you pay for annually, but you need to take a bus to get to those parking spots. Public transit is fine if you're used to it (I hated them) but the Michigan buses themselves are usually full of freshmen, and the Ann Arbor buses get PACKED around rush hour (and are particularly disgusting in the winter or when it rains). What I'm doing now is renting a spot in a house that is directly across from the law school, and its running me around $70 a month. Keep in mind that at certain times of day, driving through downtown is horrible though.

good to know. I currently take public transit where I live, and so I highly doubt I would hate it somewhere else (the things I have seen on buses in Minneapolis...). also, I find it hard to believe traffic in Ann Arbor could be worse than in Minneapolis  (*disclaimer* I know that Minneapolis surely doesn't have traffic that is worse than many other LARGER cities, but for the size of city that it is, our traffic is ridiculous. Minnesotans are known for being passive aggressive in everything, and that includes driving. WHICH DRIVES ME EFFING CRAZY. /end rant)
