Keep in mind that the vast majority of graduates will not end up in STL/Missouri. I mean, I know we aren't a T14, but I think you seem to be selling WUSTL a little short. The name carries at least some weight in other areas of the country.

What do you think about WUSTL for free vs. Michigan for ~18k vs. NYU at sticker? I'm not trying to get rich or become famous, but I'd like to pay off my UG student debt and then make a comfortable salary.

0L from St. Louis here with a not-at-all-serious suggestion for overcoming STL firms' skepticism of outsiders: Stop calling the school WUSTL and start saying Wash. U. That's the local shorthand and anything else is a dead giveaway that you aren't from here. Also, you might want to start thinking about which high school you want to lie and say you attended. I'd suggest MICDS.

Ladue or bust.

Also, FWIW, I write WUSTL probably just as often as I write Wash U, if not more. Our email addresses are WUSTL, and the apparel is probably 50/50. I know our sports programs were all WUSTL XC or WUSTL T/F.

Michigan for 18 seems the best deal.

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

Yeah, I'd agree with that.
Is there a significant divide between the lower T14 and T20s like WUSTL in terms of employment, or do they fade into each other? My intuition is that Michigan is better too, but I'm afraid that my opinion might be based upon an unjustified "T14 or bust" mentality...

Were you born in St. Louis, Polk? I have no doubt that students say WUSTL; I've just never heard any St. Louis lifer adults use it.

Michigan>WUSTL>NYU

If the $ was reasonable at all, NYU is the easy choice, but with tuition costs being what they are now sticker is just too much money.

Was not - just an undergrad. My parents were, though.

And actually, now that I think about it, I probably do say "Wash U" for the most part and type/write "WUSTL," though I do mix in the "woo-stull" from time to time. And of course, I always have to say "Washington University.... you know, in St. Louis...." and still get the blank stares, despite the school's reputation. Trust me... people will think you went to Seattle.

Haha. All good points. (And I wasn't born here either, but many of my friends were.)

Interviewed Feb. 8th and I'm noticing a lot of people who interviewed around that time have already received their admissions decision.
Interviewed Jan 20 and nothing yet. Don't know what's wrong with my application.

Thanks! Email. I checked the status checked afterwards, it hasn't been updated other than a blank under mailings with 2/22/2016 by it. Status still says application documents received with a date of 11/30/2015.

Are you thinking about submitting a letter on continued interest? I was told my the woman who interviewed me I would receive an email from her the next day it never came and neither has a decision.

I was told the same, because I had wanted to write a thank-you email and was going to respond to that. I saw a few pages back that somebody heard after about a month, so I'm gonna give it another week or two.

I don't know if this applies to you both but earlier in the cycle they acted much more quickly on applications that were over their LSAT median. Most people with high scores often heard back in a day or two and reverse splitters had to wait a lot longer. Everyone I know of that interviewed ended up getting accepted though.

I interviewed in early February. I have received nothing from Wash U since. Not sure what to think.

I was told by my interviewer that she would email me some additional information the next day. I even sent an email thanking her.

My numbers are okay.

Actually I have already sent a LOCI to WashU last Thursday, nothing happens yet.

Maybe, but more than a month is too long though. But anyway thanks for sharing information.

I haven't met any human beings who actually say "Woostl" (WUSTL). Everybody says Wash U, no matter where you're from. Plenty people type WUSTL.

Also I know for a fact at least 2 people got stl biglaw 1L SA with 0 ties, so it's doable. Both slightly diverse (minority race, but not URM). Pretty sure there are/will be more. You can get biglaw from this school (in any region so long as you have sufficient ties), but you need good grades (top 25%). The advantage of Michigan, or any other T14 (except maybe GULC), is that you can get biglaw with mediocre grades.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
