Amen. I wonder why SLS's accepts/denials are sprinkles, as opposed to waves. Because so many other schools implement waves of denials (and, less often, waves of acceptances), there must be a lot of convincing reasons to do it that way. I wonder how Stanford's admissions office's set-up is different in a way that it makes sense for them to deny, like, 7 people per day.

Word. And, at least from my observations from this forum, the "sprinkles" seem really random. People who have been waiting months and months are being denied alongside people who submitted on the last possible day. It makes very little sense to me, and I HATE UNCERTAINTY. SLS is melting my sanity.Olliedemars wrote:I wonder why SLS's accepts/denials are sprinkles, as opposed to waves. Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
I've wondered the same. Waves make more sense to me because admissions offices should have some sense of the number of students they want to accept and waitlist based on previous years' matriculation rates and the current year's application numbers and quality. Unless the process is rather outsourced (like Yale's), it seems more intuitive that a centralized group of admissions officers should release decisions in batches. I guess it's possible that instead of holding applications until one group is ready, they just send them out as they go, but doesn't that risk a higher deviation from the desired acceptance numbers? Not sure either way. Anyway, I'm just hoping to hear back soon so I can start finalizing decisions.Olliedemars wrote:I wonder why SLS's accepts/denials are sprinkles, as opposed to waves. Every day I wake up and hope that today will be it, that I'll have an answer. Then I remember... it might not be until April 30th that I hear. APRIL. 30TH.

Let's enter the land of speculation, shall we? Do we think SLS admissions office is closed for the holiday or working overtime today?Drmrndaphd wrote:That's been me... for the past 16 week. SIXTEEN. I actually can't even imagine what is taking so long. Schools are going to require commitments soon. Is Stanford just going to leave most of its applicants waiting forever?

Obviously Stanford is taking off the day before April Fool's Day to prepare for the holiday, as one does. Also Cesar Chavez Day, my bad lolfliptrip wrote:Holiday? Not that it matters now but SLS doesn't close on Cesar Chavez day.wittywitless wrote:Cesar Chavez day in California. Courts and such are closed.fliptrip wrote:Holiday? So, do we have intel on how many ding sprinkles/waves there have been thus far? Also, do we know if they are going through chronologically what complete date they are up to? Time for some serious speculation...

The only thing I'm 100% certain about is that they aren't going chronologically.jlk411 wrote:So, do we have intel on how many ding sprinkles/waves there have been thus far?
