I got the call around 10:30 pm! I wasn't expecting this and I'm so surprised and excited. I can't believe this.

How many more people could they possibly be admitting? So many waves...

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I feel like we assume that tweets imply "waves" like other schools when Y's admits are more of a trickle. I feel like the call windows are not nearly as long as their tweets make them seem, based on sheer numbers, reports here, and the sense that they aren't exactly live tweeting the process (call window end tweets going out at odd hours of the evening)hopeful94 wrote:How many more people could they possibly be admitting? So many waves...
Last year there were 14 tweets (several saying "and tomorrow" so presumably more than 14 days of calls). In 2014-2015, there were 269 new offers of admission. Presumably a couple of these may have come off of the waitlist, but assuming they didn't 14/269= ~19 admits per tweet on average. The number of admits per tweet probably ebbs and flows with the cycle as they go from presumptive admits to 12s to lower scorers.
So far this year there have been 15 tweets, none saying "and tomorrow". This seems like we're getting to the end of the line, especially since the last call tweet last year was April 7th. It seems reasonable that this week/weekend would be the end of non-WL offers.
Granted: I can't remember where, but I remember seeing YLS admissions say that they don't always tweet every single time they make calls so these figures might all be a little smaller. All of this should be taken with an extremely extremely small grain of salt.

Yeah I did say that - they have 3 admins that I know of but I'll defer to SamDan saying 4. Also, I didn't think there were many (if any at all) current students at the time I said that but lately there have been a few people added by admins, whereas normally people join after getting the link invite via email so it says "joined" rather than "added by." I don't know if this means anything at all, but I'll trust SamDan when he/she says there are at least 2 current students. And if there are at least 2, maybe there are a few more as well?lemondrop wrote:I think I remember jets saying there are only 2-3 members who are not admits, but this is just off the top of my headWinterComing wrote:237 members. 31 invites.SuperAverageJoe wrote:How large has the Facebook group gotten?
Total guess, but maybe a dozen of those are administrators or current students.
It's a bit weird though because in the other Facebook groups the current students will normally post something saying welcome, please reach out with any questions, etc.

Who's still hanging out from 2015? I went complete late October. According to LSN, we still have a sliver of hope!
That said, I think it's time to start drafting the LOCI.

Anyone else feel like their one shot was for Asha to find their application so delightful that she'd auto-admit?
My numbers are such a long shot that I have no realistic chance in FR--if that's even where my app ended up.
Now that the admission tweets have become less of a thrill ride & more of a slog emotionally, I'm very ready for my ding.

this is not me but I'm pretty sure my only chance is to be sent to the faculty members who care most about numbers - the kind of people who can't be bothered to read into applicant's softs.Olliedemars wrote:Anyone else feel like their one shot was for Asha to find their application so delightful that she'd auto-admit?

Scrolling through the list of members, it seems like there are definitely a few current students. At least, there are 5 people whose profile includes "Yale Law School" and that seems pretty bold for just an admit.jetsfan1 wrote:Yeah I did say that - they have 3 admins that I know of but I'll defer to SamDan saying 4. ETA: And if I counted correctly, that's in addition to the admins in the group.

if there's any admin reading this, when there's so few spots left (according to the FB group size) and so many people who haven't received their initial decision, there's definitely something wrong with the process.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Looking at the five I come across, it looks like two are actual current students, while the other three appear to be merely aggressive with their Facebook designations, i.e. are future current students. No harm in adding that if you know you're going I suppose....WinterComing wrote:

I also count four YLS staff (including admins). And at least four deferrals. So that would be ~10 non-admits.
That said, given how much numbers of admits have fluctuated in recent years, it's not clear that anything can be extrapolated from those numbers. In 2011 they admitted roughly 245, and last year they admitted 269.

On a positive note, I'm going to bet that the next round of sitting and staring at our phones is coming Friday night. Thank goodness I'll be on a plane then.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
The number of offers has been inching upward in recent years while yield rate has declined. I wonder if other schools have been stepping up their scholarship games? Or maybe there is a "TLS effect" whereby people are more inclined to take a full ride over debt at YLS.SamuelDanforth wrote:That said, given how much numbers of admits have fluctuated in recent years, it's not clear that anything can be extrapolated from those numbers. I just hope that, whenever the next call wave is, it doesn't last nearly as long as the last one. I know that my chance of getting in is pretty low at this point, but I still can't help but be on edge during the entire wave.

Did anyone who got accepted miss the phone call, but get an email of admission afterwards? My phone service is out for a few days and it is killing me. Also, there isn't a yale status checker right?

I think the earliest we'll be getting news is tomorrow. And for a phone out of commission I would contact the admissions committee and let them know that your phone is having issues.

Others ITT have mentioned receiving confirmation emails the day of an acceptance call. I wouldn't worry about missing the call/message too much since it seems they follow up via email pretty quickly. Those who've gotten in can probably elaborate.labergel wrote:Did anyone who got accepted miss the phone call, but get an email of admission afterwards? Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
My guess as to why admits are now only a slow trickle is that once they reach the 11s they have to pick and choose and see who would compliment all the admits, I highly doubt they would just admit the 11s based on submission date given that they can afford not to and be choosy because YLS.
