I think "lock" is overly optimistic, but your chances are great, based on numbers alone. Definitely throw an app in. It wouldn't be a waste of money at all.doobleykah wrote:ur a lockclarf wrote:Think it's too late for me to get an app out with a reasonable chance of getting in? 172 LSAT and 3.6 GPA if it matters.

GPA: 3.65 @ top engineering school
LSAT: 167 (3rd attempt)
M.S Engineering
2.5-3 years related work experience
Work an hour out of Ann Arbor.
Hope I do well. Noticed two typos in my application. One in the PS (word flip) and a tense error in my diversity statement. Hope I get in.... god I hope i get in.

You can use the search function in the thread. Lots of people have heard about money, others haven't.redsxfan2010 wrote:Has anyone heard about money? I got an acceptance email but no mention about cash monies

Can anyone confirm if it's still a big envelope this year, or are they FedExing a box? I want to make sure they have the right delivery address. SO EXCITED!

Don't feel pigeonholed into only doing it as a ``Why Michigan?'' (i.e. Essay One). I think you can make a really awesome discussion that intertwines some of Michigan's strengths into the other essays as well. That might be an easier avenue for you to pursue, as it helps you show more about yourself as well as how Michigan fits in with you. I always feel like the Why X essay is absurdly hard and oftentimes comes across as being insincere, whereas the other topics can be useful to combine both your own lived experience with some of Michigan's characteristics. FWIW, I wrote about one of the alternative topics and was admitted, so I can attest that it won't sink you.woc wrote:i have so much hype for michigan but i'm having trouble articulating why. would anyone care to read my "why michigan"?

Same. I did the second essay option, if I recall. I suspect it's a bit easier to get an attentive read when it's not the same "blah blah, Ann Arbor is pretty" stuff over and over.nacogdoches wrote:Don't feel pigeonholed into only doing it as a ``Why Michigan?'' Just got my merit aid offer. Honestly a little disappointed. The letter said they don't negotiate or rather 'compete'..is this actually the case?

I was accepted at the end of December, and I just got my aid information today. I am pretty thrilled.
