This is definitely wishful thinking, but I'm hoping you're right. Although I'm in NYC, so anything from Columbia should take little to no time to arrive. My letter was also dated 2/4, so I'm not expecting a named scholarship at this point.

What I still don't understand is dropping the insistence on snail mail for the somehow-more-painful combination of snail mail and email that seems to work different ways for different applicants with no rhyme or reason.

It does seem like those who got snail mail also got merit scholarship, whereas those with email notifications did not. (or at least a large group in each case)

Yes it definitely seems like

Email --> No named scholarship
Mail --> Named scholarship

is the general trend

Agreed that this is the general trend, but with a strangely high number of exceptions IIRC. I thought there were some people who received email and then had a named scholarship in the snail mail?

Sure but that doesn't take into consideration that weather has been pretty bad of late from NY to Boston, and recent email admissions might be an attempt to get the word out peremptorily in case mail takes longer than expected to be delivered.

This is not new email wording. Admissions emails had that wording 10 days ago (about bad weather delay) and since then people have received their admissions packets and no one has reported a named scholarship with a prior email notification.

But here I am, still "Completion Pending". I'm mostly terrified that they've put me into a "too much of a hassle" pile and now I'm going to get looked at in the last possible wave despite applying nearly a month ago.

Do you think it's at all worth it to call or email them again tomorrow? My numbers are solid for Columbia and I don't even care when I hear from them; I just want to have my application marked as complete and under review. But at the same time I don't want to turn into "that guy" who becomes a bother.

Reporting in to say that Columbia emailed me today and finally made my app complete, and I was being a big stressball for nothing. Thanks again to jbagelboy and Comma.Split for talking me off that ledge. Hope this delay doesn't severely hurt my chances (though if they're still kicking tires with October applicants, I'm not going to assume anything about their timetable).
