I am about to buy plane tickets for ASW. Can someone from NYC tell me how long it takes to get from the airports (LaGuardia, Liberty) to NYU? Is subway or cab better?

Its not possible to take the subway all the way to either. You can take a bus to Grand Central then a train from GC to NYU if you want or a train from Newark to Penn Station and the subway from Penn Station to NYU. Cabs are about 55 to 60 from LGA to lower NYC.

Thanks for your reply. That sounds pretty circuitous. How long would that cab ride take? I realized I'll probably want to get to my hotel first (next to the WTC site).

You'd probably be better off flying into Newark. it's pretty cheap (around $10), can be done in about an hour and will give you a direct route to the world trade center. check this out for directions http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-to-from.html. hth.

If you fly into JFK, you can take the AirTrain to the A train, and ride that all the way to Washington Square. It's about as long a train ride as there is in the city, but it's also the easiest and the cheapest option.

I've never taken transit to either airport, but

Cab to/from JFK is about 45 minutes (depending on when you get in) and is a flat $45.
Cab to/from LGA is about 25 - 30 minutes (though it can take up to an hour in traffic) and price varies on travel time. I always fly out of LGA and I'd say my average fare is about $35.

When I visited NYU in February I flew in to LaGuardia, caught the bus and transferred to the subway once we crossed into Manhattan. If I had it all to do over again I'd grab a cab in a heartbeat. After a four hour flight spending another hour and a half on public transportation was exhausting. The convenience of going straight to the hotel would have been worth an extra $30 easily.

I was quite surprised to get 62,5K, but a few more thousand would be nice to compensate for the extra CoL in NYC.

No, they will not revoke your scholarship because you try to negotiate. That would be absolutely crazy and super unethical.

Finally finished my NeedAccess form. I don't expect to hear anything until after interviews at the end of the month, but I'm glad I finally finished that particular elephant.

Are there any other financial docs to fill out? I couldn't find any... And also if I have an RTK interview does that mean they won't tell me any aid information until after the interview (if I don't get RTK)?

i don't get why nyu is sending out emails to say "check how much money we gave you!" to people who aren't getting any. i've been having to jump through hoops to get even my login credentials (i'm international) but if this is all to find out that i've gotten nothing, i'll be quite annoyed. actually i think i am annoyed already. whatever.

Send an email and then they will open up a "My Appeal" tab on FAAPS where you submit your appeal formally.
