Ugh...just got a "your application is now complete e-mail". I'm pretty sure I got this about a month ago. False hope!

Has anyone who applied for one heard anything about the fellowships? (The Center for Legal and Court Technology, Election Law Program, Institute of Bill of Rights Law) If so, how were you notified? And when did you hear?
Thanks

Applied 11/3, current status date 11/28, and nothing for almost three months now.
I think I am going to ask for a refund on my application fee so we can both act like this never happened.

As I understand it, you get the fellowship info with your scholly info, in the admission packet. But I asked if we could apply after admission, and got told by Faye Shealy herself to go right ahead. Send your app to the admissions email.ap613 wrote:Has anyone who applied for one heard anything about the fellowships? I was told by admissions a couple weeks ago that it was separate from schollys and still being decided.Ubermaus wrote:As I understand it, you get the fellowship info with your scholly info, in the admission packet. Maybe it depends on the program. At any rate, good luck!coldshoulder wrote:I was told by admissions a couple weeks ago that it was separate from schollys and still being decided.

Ok yeah that's what I was thinking. I read through last year's thread and people mentioned hearing they would all be decided at once at some point in March but then nobody ever said anything about getting one which seemed strange.coldshoulder wrote:I was told by admissions a couple weeks ago that it was separate from schollys and still being decided.Ubermaus wrote:As I understand it, you get the fellowship info with your scholly info, in the admission packet. it seems like they are pretty stingy on their scholarships... anyone got more than 10k/year?

I noticed the same. I got a $14/k year fellowship with a work requirement component, negotiated it up significantly with an offer from another school. Now I'm getting more than people with considerably higher numbers. I would encourage everyone to negotiate, if they can.RunwayRed wrote:it seems like they are pretty stingy on their scholarships... anyone got more than 10k/year?

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that its a state school with relatively cheaper tuition rates...RunwayRed wrote:it seems like they are pretty stingy on their scholarships... anyone got more than 10k/year?

Do you guys think $25k a year from Washington and Lee and $23 a year from Emory will get me a boost from $10k a year OOS?

Re: William and Mary c/o 2015 (2011-2012 Cycle)
possibly, but remember its not so much the amount of the scholarship a school has offered but the amount of debt you will leave with after graduation... so a $30,000/yr scholly from an expensive private school is not necessarily worth more than 12,000 schooly at W&M. So I would address my negations with them focusing on that point rather than just the amount of scholarship money another school has offered.

I figure they would be able to figure out how much each would cost.Oftranch wrote:possibly, but remember its not so much the amount of the scholarship a school has offered but the amount of debt you will leave with after graduation... so a $30,000/yr scholly from an expensive private school is not necessarily worth more than 12,000 schooly at W&M.
