Anyone else still waiting for scholly info? The Dean told me mine was definitely mailed out last Friday, but I still haven't received it. It usually takes 2 days to receive mail from VA.

For those who received theirs, did it come via regular mail in a small envelope?

Pretty sure it did. My mom read it to me over the phone, but didn't indicate that there was anything different about the letter.

Good man, congrats on the scholarship. I received the e-mail about the scholarship sending the second round out so I was curious as to whether someone had received anything as of today.

edit: Also got an email saying that from now on (people accepted post Jan 6) scholarships "will be mailed within 10 days of your admissions decision" Didn't know if this was news, but thought I would share.

No, people with higher LSAT scores and medium GPA are getting only 10K or less p/y. It seems like WL is shooting for low LSAT scores and higher GPA.

I am very confused as to what W&L is doing this year. I know they have fallen in the "rankings" for the past 3 years but I do not see how having a class with a lower LSAT score will help solve that. With that being said, if I receive only 10K a year (167/3.4) then I will be withdrawing immediately. I could not justify paying 31K a year in tuition at W&L.

Nah, I meant getting money in general. It seemed everyone who got anything was a reverse splitter.

Neither a splitter nor reverse splitter by TLS standards. Median LSAT, above median GPA (though typically near median for most T1). $31k/year. I have a better offer from IU, though, so I'll probably be withdrawing soon.

I know their median GPA is lower than a lot of the T30, but I agree. I am not sure trying to push up their GPA median at the expense of the LSAT median would do them any good rankings wise.

While I'm sure W&L cares about the rankings like other schools, I have two thoughts:

1)We have an incomplete sample. People with higher LSATs tend to be pushed to higher schools here on TLS. There could be people with higher LSATs/median GPAs getting good scholarships that are just not represented here.

2) Of all the schools I've looked at, W&L is the one that I could see caring slightly less about the rankings than is normal. They went out on a limb with the 3rd year and seem to think slightly different than your average T1.

I'm guessing that a lot of the people that applied to W&L also applied to W&M. I'm visiting both next month, but does anyone that's been to both have any thoughts comparing them? I have a slightly better offer at W&L, but not enough to be a deciding factor.

I did not apply to W&M... since the money is not a deciding factor, I would pay attention to the students, grounds, and ask as many questions as you can [i.e. job stats where you want to work, etc...].

I've looked at the firms that come to OCI for both...Both schools have a random collection of big law firms and all the firms from WV that I would consider working for, so its basically coming down to which school/campus/town I think would be more enjoyable for three years.

In that case, I would try to get some of the students to take you out! And since you're interested in the possibility of a pet..check out that whole W&L lets your dog in the law building thing.

After reading the pet thread, I think a cat might be my best bet if I do decide to get a pet. I loved my dog that we had, but I want to make sure I can do all that's needed for whatever (if anything I get).

I've been to Lexington/W&L before, as well as Williamsburg, but never to W&M's campus. Making a big loop of a trip before the Feb ASW. WIlliamsburg-Charlottesville-Lexington.
