Lame that we're still waiting for decisions so close to deposit deadlines

I read that starting with the Class of 2017, the $500.00 deposits will no longer be required

Citing its commitment to need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid, Harvard Law School will no longer collect deposits from admitted students who accept an admissions offer beginning with the Class of 2017, according to Assistant Dean and Chief Admissions Officer Jessica L. Soban ’02.

In previous years, the Law School required a $500 deposit, a standard feature of the admissions process at nearly all other law schools across the country, though precise dollar amounts may vary. This deposit is currently credited towards the student’s tuition, which totalled $52,350 for the 2013-2014 school year.

As a JS1.5 Splitter who is just hoping for WL at this point, I can't say I like these numbers.

Agree with the above post. As a splitter myself I try and rationalize a reason why it would be different this year, but I just don't think it exists. There's not much left to do but admire the fact that there are enough students with numbers that high that even the wait listed candidates are often above or nearly above both medians. In a way, if there are truly so many applicants with numbers that high, it makes me think that softs are actually all that matters, and not tie breakers. It's just that you have to have numbers that high to even be considered in the first place.

That being said, I was lucky enough to get an interview, so what do I know.

Thanks for that post Drawstring but man those GPAs are high. Not a lot of hope for my sub-25th GPA.

Of course we have to remember that TLS/LSN is not necessarily a representative sample.

We just have to keep telling ourselves that, fellow splitters.

TLS may not be a representative sample of the entire applicant pool but I wouldn't expect there to be a higher portion of high GPAs. Although it's possible. Strivers do strive.

Agreed. But I'm hoping there's a higher number of low GPAs which were admitted but not posted.

Me too. Well, actually, I'd like to just get in before the waitlist, but..

I was digging around a bit earlier today, and it looks like that last few waves have begun between 4pm-5pm eastern mostly.

Usually reports start at around 3PM, but there have been a few waves that started a bit later.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
