Settled. USD's my "safety" at this point. I'll be stopping by the P.O. later today to get a few stamps. I'll probably send out the initial deposit on the 13th of April in the morning just to make sure it doesn't somehow get delayed.erico wrote:start converging on the options where you've been accepted and throw down deposits on your favorite one or two while you're waiting for hastings or whoever your top choice is.zeth006 wrote:So what now? Okay, thought I'd jump in on the UCH fun. Sent 01/11 Complete: 01/14
Any other Christmas-time applicants get any recent responses? I want to get a sense of any movement that may be happening, even though I'm expecting to hear the vast majority of responses in the second half of March and the first week of April.

Has anyone received financial aid information separate from Meritbased grants? I have Hastings/USD deadline coming up as I wait for UCI/Davis/USC and want to only lay down 1 deposit. As of now, I'm leaning USD with my scholly compared to Hastings sticker...

I think your USD scholly is more than Hastings could ever offer in terms of merit aidInygma wrote:Has anyone received financial aid information separate from Meritbased grants? Not sure if I can pass up the 45k at usd with how expensive living is in SF.

I don't think you should, esp. if you want to practice in SoCal (I'm not sure if that's what you're planning on doing). I'm guessing (and this is pure speculation) that USD may be more generous in the area of need-based grants as well, since they are private and not having funding cut left and right by the state -____-Inygma wrote:I know that, just hoping to receive something... even if it is only 5,000.msch0i wrote:I think your USD scholly is more than Hastings could ever offer in terms of merit aidInygma wrote:Has anyone received financial aid information separate from Meritbased grants? You should hold out for more than 45k at USD. I went from 60k initial offer to 81k at the end of the cycle. They will get desperate in a few months and start making better offers.msch0i wrote:I don't think you should, esp. if you want to practice in SoCal (I'm not sure if that's what you're planning on doing). I never put down a deposit with them haha. I missed the deadline and they still kept sending me scholarship increases.
You should double deposit now and try to use that as a negotiating point.

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
Was anyone else REALLY excited to get accepted, and then REALLY disappointed to read those Hastings fee increase memos?
$50k+ out of state tuition? Not to mention the likely increase in 2011-2012... I just can't see how Hastings is worth that much. I'm so disappointed right now.

I try not to think about it, and when I do I remind myself that I better get a decent PI job so I can use the PICAP.sophistry wrote:Was anyone else REALLY excited to get accepted, and then REALLY disappointed to read those Hastings fee increase memos?

Re: UC Hastings 2010!!!
I'll have to give PICAP a closer look. I have an (unfounded) distrust of loan forgiveness programs. I figure there must be a catch, or that they'll pull funding from it by the time I graduate. At least they increased the wage cap to $70k.Borhas wrote:I try not to think about it, and when I do I remind myself that I better get a decent PI job so I can use the PICAP.sophistry wrote:Was anyone else REALLY excited to get accepted, and then REALLY disappointed to read those Hastings fee increase memos?
