Re: American U
Does anyone think I am handicapped because I turned down a PT acceptance off the waitlist last year? I couldn't take the seat due to family reasons, but reapplied this year (and landed on the waitlist again). Worth an extra email I suppose?

I was on the waitlist, yeah. They only gave me 24 hours to decide. Yikes!

When waitlisted, did you opt for PT or were you FT and they offered you PT?

I'm at NU, and was just curious if any of the Chicago area people who are planning on attending next year were interested in a non-creepy meet and chat (like at a Borders or something).

I withdrew from the PT waitlist. I'm guessing they'll also take me off the FT, or at least be annoyed enough to stop considering me. Go get it Rockstar and GDane!

You were accepted off the waitlist already? Most of the schools I'm waitlisted at said they won't even start making decisions until late May or June!Bailarina08 wrote:I withdrew from the PT waitlist. Youse are all great. Thanks.
Ballarina, im sorry to hear youre not going to stick around. I hope things work out for you though.
I know a few people have been taken from the waitlist, but I wonder what their numbers were. Is AU taking the highest numbers first or are they using a more holistic approach? Who the hell knows. Ha!

Re: American U
I got a call from Fordham admitting me on Monday. (Not from the WL, I just applied rather late.) Then yesterday American emailed me asking if I'm still interested in PT. Since I never really saw myself as a PT student, the admit to Fordham's FT program pretty much sealed the deal. Still hoping for W&M though.Snowdrifter wrote: You were accepted off the waitlist already? Most of the schools I'm waitlisted at said they won't even start making decisions until late May or June!

Re: American U
Interestingly enough all the admissions of the waitlists have been for PT only...doesn't seem to be movement (that we are aware of) in FT. From what I gather, the stats for those admitted thus far are high LSATs (at least compared to mine

My guess is that the PT numbers contributed to their slip in the rankings this year, and that they're trying to raise those numbers and move back up.WMCowgirl wrote:Interestingly enough all the admissions of the waitlists have been for PT only...doesn't seem to be movement (that we are aware of) in FT. Re: American U
Before I get bashed by the people that put the rankings on a pedestal, I want to clarify on my previous statement.
I believe the rankings are useful in giving people an idea of a schools general reputation. They are not useful when it comes to employment, nor are they always indicative of a schools worth. AU is ranked 48th, but it shares DC with Georgetown and GW, two really good schools. Anywhere else, AU would be tops. However, the rankings get distorted by people and a drop or gain is equated with a school getting worse or better. This isnt always the case. So, it would be unfortunate if AU took more of a numbers approach instead of a holistic approach with the waitlist just because they "dropped" 3 spots in rankings.
I dont have as much disdain for the LSAT as I do for USNWR, so I think the LSAT is important. I wish it would be more directly related to law school and not so vague (grouping purple dinosaurs and red dinosaurs? what the hell?), but it is what it is.
No, I wont be retaking. I took it once and did subpar, retook and did slightly better, but still nowhere near where I set out to reach.
