Waitlisted today. Applied in September, interviewed early January. Interview was an awful experience so no surprise here.

Are you permitted to give details on this? As someone who is pretty awful at interviews, I'd appreciate any info you can provide about it.trkmaniak00 wrote:Waitlisted today. Applied in September, interviewed early January. Interview was an awful experience so no surprise here.

Since Columbia apparently puts the named ones in the initial letter, I'm surprised Chi waits so long to send out their big awards.j0elanz wrote:They say in the admitted students email that they're sending financial aid packages in early March.BuyaLittleMercy wrote:Thanks, I didn't catch that. Admitted. Complete - 10/24. Interview offer - 12/20. Interview - 1/9 (thought it went horribly btw). Median LSAT, 25 < GPA < 50.

I've seen a lot of ppl saying they thought the interview went poorly.
What made you think that, if you don't mind me asking?

Anyone know how Chicago picks Rubensteins? There are so many of them. Is it purely a numbers game?

It's hard to describe. The interviewer was kind of intense. I felt I performed poorly.brinicolec wrote:dddddd90 wrote:Admitted. Complete - 10/24. Interview offer - 12/20. Interview - 1/9 (thought it went horribly btw). Median LSAT, 25 < GPA < 50.

Confirmed, yes. Nobody is admitted without an interview.brinicolec wrote:I believe that all admitted students for UChi are interviewed.... Can someone confirm this (or deny if I'm wrong, lol)?feefeeriri wrote:Interview is necessary for admission?

WL'd. This was always a super reach for me, so pleasantly surprised I was not outright rejected. No interview invite.
Congrats to those admitted!

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Personally mine went poorly because Chicago wasn't one of my top schools (I'm international as well) so I didn't know a lot about the area or specifics about the school and my interviewer asked me multiple questions on those topics.dddddd90 wrote:It's hard to describe. Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I was admitted yesterday and can talk a little about my interview since there seems to be some interest about them.
The interview seemed highly scripted (the interviewer didn't engage in "conversation" by building off of my response to questions and would instead just move to her next question). More questions were directed toward my resume in this interview than any other I've done (WashU, Vandy, Cornell, and UVA) and she seemed to want to gauge if I would "fit in" at UChi.
What was challenging was remaining upbeat and positive (factors that I think are critical to a successful interview) because my interviewer seemed so cold and clinical, asking her questions in an automatic way.
You can PM me if you have additional questions

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I interviewed this week and it wasn't bad. We had Skype issues so we just had a phonecall which took away a lot of my strengths, but the interviewer still good. There was clearly a script and she clearly had a list of questions to go through before her next interview so it was a bit formulaic, but she was engaged and not at all cold. Like I talked about who I wanted to meet alive or dead, and I used a pretty obscure name and she said oh I read a book by that person and we talked about him for a minute.

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I thought my interview went poorly because it felt rushed. It is exactly 20 minutes long whereas other schools are a lot more laid back and relaxed. It is literally one question after the next with little time to elaborate on your response. That was my hot take on it.brinicolec wrote:dddddd90 wrote:Admitted. Complete - 10/24.
