I would reach out to admissions and let them know that you're visiting and request an "informational meeting" with an admissions officer. You can also visit classes, tour the campus. They definitely will want to know you're coming and I would think it shows serious interest.Navyhornguy wrote:Hey all. I booked a flight to Austin for April 7th thru the 9th solely to visit and express as much interest as possible as a waitlist candidate (I finally had a small window with my Navy duty schedule for a couple days of leave). I'm curious if anyone here has scheduled a similar visit and how you went about asking for a potential meeting with Dean Rivera? I would love to sit down with her and talk about my application if that sort of thing is done, but I certainly don't want to do anything pushy or aggressive. Anybody have any thoughts? I feel like flying down there makes a good impression and I want the visit to be worth the money.
Also, any thoughts on how much notice I should give them on my visit? It's two weeks out now, but I don't want to give them a heads up too early or too late. I'm sure this all seems sort of overkill, but this needs to go well.
I've had good responses scheduling my visit (outside of the admitted student days because my travel schedule), but I understand it may be a little different because I'm admitted.
Good luck!

When I visited and asked to meet the Dean, they said they don't usually schedule meetings or talk about waitlisted applications, but I that I am totally welcome to drop in after my tour, which I did. I figured that unless I had something really pressing to ask, I didn't want to force myself into a meeting and ask fluffy questions anyways.zozo1717 wrote:I would reach out to admissions and let them know that you're visiting and request an "informational meeting" with an admissions officer. Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I was accepted recently (out of state). I wish I could visit during the ASD next week, but flights are like 800 bucks @_@. Even IF I qualified for the travel reimbursement it wouldnt be enough to cover half the ticket. If anyone goes feel free to write impressions haha.
Any news on scholarships? I havent heard anything yet... does it come in the mail with the letter? Also, TLS had an article about switching to in-state. How difficult is it from someones experience? I will be moving and living full time by myself. Ill be 29 by the end of the year so I am independent.

I visited. First you schedule a tour of the law school and/or class sit-in online and it asks you if you've been put on the WL, prospective, admitted, etc. Secondly, when you arrive you are asked to sign in with your application year and similar info. Dean Rivera did come out and speak to us a little bit, but she was rather busy, though she did ask for my name, where I am from, if I took off work to come by, etc. The tour was led by Mario Villa - he works in admissions and does financial aid and stuff. I don't know (and doubt) if he really makes any admissions decisions.Navyhornguy wrote:Hey all. re scholarships, I was admitted just over 4 weeks ago and got my scholarship info yesterday. I'm OOS and they offered me in-state tuition all three years as part of my aid package. If you don't get in-state tuition, you can get it for your 2nd and 3rd years if you do some things like register to vote in Texas...I'm sure the school can let you know exactly what you need to do. It's probably not too difficult, you just have to wait a year. Hopefully though they'll make it easier on you and just award you with in-state for all three years

Thanks for the heads up. Good to know that is an option. I am debating UT, NWU, and UCLA atm.

Thanks for the info! I just scheduled a tour and a class visit online. I'm glad you told me that's how it's done because I didn't want to bug the admissions office again just yet. When I send my 3rd and final LOCI next week I will tell them I have a visit scheduled.poptart123 wrote:I visited. Ah, well, it's either being ridiculed by your contracts professor or Alexis Sanchez for not having enough passion. I trust you'll pick well.sneijder wrote:Well, it is either UT or a term with Arsenal (most likely).rnoodles22 wrote:Have you gotten the transfer papers ready from Galatasaray, wes?sneijder wrote:In via text message with Cow emojis!!!!!!! This is the best exchange I have ever read on TLS. Also-- Wes seems like he's trading one Oranje for another eh?rnoodles22 wrote:Ah, well, it's either being ridiculed by your contracts professor or Alexis Sanchez for not having enough passion. Also, interestingly enough, no matter what option wes picks he'll still be a gunner.

That 'gunner' comment was gold.
Anyway, in last night via phone call.
OOS Splitter; applied late January, complete early February. Was told 3-4 weeks for scholly info. Pretty jazzed up about it.
edit: No "why Texas" requested or sent, no interview. Visited in mid-January.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I was hoping to file for scholarship reconsideration, but noticed on the form that it says...
"If I accept the increased scholarship offer through this program, my admission becomes binding and I agree to attend Texas Law and to withdraw promptly from admission and financial aid processes of all other law schools."
Anyone know what happens then in regards to waitlists or schools I haven't received a decision from? I love Texas Law but am still nervous to commit without having all the cards on the table. Was thinking of callling admissions but figured I'd check in here first. Would appreciate any insight!
