Out of curiosity... who else feels like the repetitive assholery in other sections of TLS is getting old?

I say this as a 6month TLSer who frequents the "choosing a law school" threads, and maybe it's just that I've already had a crappy day, but like...

I guess I'm getting my first taste of loving the law and hating other lawyers?


I know I'm being vague. Blech.

I think this might just be true of most forums of any kind where you can be anonymous.

Theoretically, but the subreddits for lawschool and lawschooladmissions are far less rude. Other subreddits though....the anonymity thing certainly has an effect.

I'm trying to update my wardrobe for law school up north, and this blog is SO PRETTY AND NICE! She links the things she wears as well as more budget friendly options. I'm trying to pare down the mountains and mountains of preppy sundresses in preparation for the arctic winters and apartments the size of a shoebox, so if anyone has any other blog recommendations hit me up! I really need some sort of northern essentials list.

If you mean the same 3/4 posters who are bitter that they don't like being lawyers and urge every person "don't go to law school" no matter what the choosing thread is then YES it's soooooo old

If you mean the same 3/4 posters who are bitter that they don't like being lawyers and urge every person "don't go to law school" no matter what the choosing thread is then YES it's soooooo old

This is why I've decided I like ASWs way better than TLS. Everyone at ASWs is excited and eager for school. And super friendly.

YES. Christ. Or the people who scream "retake" no matter what the question is. Like, I'm glad some people had the time to wait and retake even when it meant another year in a dead-end job or dad paying your bills, but so many applicants are NOT in that position. When people ask "which school" out of the options they have without supplying "waiting" or "retaking" as an option, they probably want an answer to their question and not an off-the-wall opinion about whether or not you think they've reached their potential.

At the very least, one could ask if a retake is an option, and if the answer is "no", freaking drop it.

You haven't scored high enough! No one will ever want you with a 160/166/175! Even if you've already got four full-ride offers, YOU COULD GET EVEN MORE WITH A 2 POINT INCREASE."

"T14 for free or you WILL be homeless and addicted to crack within 5 years!!!" It's like 50% of people cannot even imagine that anyone would want to do anything other than big law or the fed. Like if you're not aiming for SCOTUS you shouldn't be going to law school.

YES. As someone who just wants to do public defense and doesn't care about a huge salary right out of law school - or ever, really - it's beyond frustrating.
