What's the logic behind waitlisting over 300 people when they only anticipate accepting 20 or so? It almost seems they're using it as a soft rejection.

It's to a school's benefit to have a pool of candidates with a variety of GPAs and LSATs that they can pick from at the end of the cycle to help a median or fill a seat. For most applicants, however, it is a soft rejection.

Although I'm sure others will come in throughout the weekend, here's what looks to be the final tally from the day. Shoutout to lc39 for the updates!! I'm definitely disappointed that I didn't get a call. Here's to hoping next Decision Friday is better for all of us still waiting!

It makes sense that this is the case with Penn because of what you mentioned, but I just want to add that they could weigh it for reasons more than just YP. Chicago, Stanford, and Berkeley all come to mind when I think of GPA-heavy schools, and I don't think people claim that it's a form of YP for them.
