Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Placed on Priority Reserve through Priority Track. I'm a splitter so I can't say I'm surprised but I was hoping I would get in off the bat. Does anyone know how the Priority Reserve differs from the regular waitlist? I've looked around but I can't find a definitive answer on if there is really any significant difference.

Did anyone who has had an interview get asked the "why law" question?

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was like a Waitlist A, Waitlist B sort of situation.Mack.Hambleton wrote:I think it's just the first group they draw fromBroncos847 wrote:Placed on Priority Reserve through Priority Track. Did you write a Why Duke essay? I feel like I'll just be reiterating what I wrote in mine for the Why Law and Why Duke questions...psychmusic wrote:yes I didgriffin3575 wrote:Did anyone who has had an interview get asked the "why law" question?

I think that's okay though. I doubt they remember what people wrote (and the person interviewing may or may not have even read your essays; it could have been someone else).griffin3575 wrote:Did you write a Why Duke essay? Sorry if this is a very dumb question, but to those of you applying for Scholarship -- this happens AFTER you get admitted, correct?

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Had the Skype scholarship interview today. Very relaxed and conversational. Lasted 15 minutes long.
The interview questions she asked were pretty simple: why law, why Duke kind of things. She gave me an opportunity to share any relevant information about my financial situation that I would want the committee to consider when making a decision. Then I got to ask some questions about Duke, and we were done!
She did inform me that awards would not be made until my financial need was evaluated through NeedAccess - she said the process was holistic they decide on merit/need aid at the same time. Award info will come via snail mail.

That's cool, LC, but you should be getting a Moredecai IMHO.lc39 wrote:Had the Skype scholarship interview today. Very relaxed and conversational. Lasted 15 minutes long.

in via email! pt, complete on 1/5, so a pretty quick turnaround, especially considering my stats. above median GPA, around 25% LSAT.

got the email ~30 minutes ago, no why duke. it seems like a lot of schools are still catching up after the winter break, so I wouldn't read too much into it!foles wrote:Would you mind sharing when you got that email and whether you wrote a Why Duke? Anyone able to solicit PT from Duke? I'm so concerned that the rolling admission process would put us regular decision applicants at a disadvantage. I submitted my app a few days ago and tried to solicit it- no response....

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I did manage to solicit PT, but from my understanding I have extenuating circumstances that they liked and that this is a freak occurrence. I basically shared my circumstance/numbers/quick summary (2-3 sentences) of why Duke, was emailed back almost immediately by an adcomm who said she would forward my request to Director Hill, who sent me the PT request along with a short personal email the next day. Again, this was a freak occurrence (I haven't seen anyone else do this) and stronger applicants than me were denied their solicitation. I don't think it will affect your chances, especially this year. If mylsn says you have a very good chance of getting in, I think you still have a good chance. Most of their class get in without PT every year. Good luck.georgetownhopeful893 wrote:Anyone able to solicit PT from Duke? So what's the average response time on PT? I'd check the spreadsheet but it's blocked at my workplace.

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
It's 9.2 days for all applicants. Mine took 8 days PT and that seems about average.secadc11 wrote:So what's the average response time on PT? I'd check the spreadsheet but it's blocked at my workplace.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
