That would great! Just got this, so, I've already left campus, but, we can definitely make plans for another get together. We should see who else wants to come along.Gemini wrote:Let me know if you (or any accepted 0Ls) want to meet!30-Something wrote:So, my stalking of Fordham begins. I am going on the noon tour today. I'll be at the next admitted student day, and would love to meet up then (either before, during, or after).Gemini wrote:

Equally, I'd love to get a copy of your notes, or any other materials you'd be willing to share that might be useful.
I want to get off to as good a start as possible and if at all possible want to start studying yesterday - got any good tips?

I'm seriously considering the possibility of graduating in 2 1/2 years. If my first year doesn't go as well as I hope, that possibility becomes more remote.cogitoergosum wrote:Uhh... honestly, though, I just want to get started already. Patience is a virtue other people have. Unfortunately, I only decided to go to law school last June, meaning I was too late to start last year. I've been waiting for 2/3 of a year already and am ready to go

While I intend to "be all I can be" I do not do so to the detriment of others.
I have often tutored class-mate during exam week and am always happy to help others.
I think if we help each other, we all end up better off.
It'd be a karma thing, if I were some kind of new-age hippie. Which I'm not.

And ok to be serious, law school will kick you in the ass once you start. PLEASE ENJOY THIS TIME.
And my notes will do nothing for you because you will have no idea wtf anything means at this point.

I have a meeting with Dean Brown tomorrow after my classes end, and I'm wondering if I should dress as I would for an interview or if going casual is alright. Really don't want to have to wear a suit to class tomorrow and I don't have time in between to change. Any advice??

I've been working with notes from some 1Ls at Fordham and Cardozo, and I don't think they've been that hard to decipher.

Do not wear a suit, but wearing pants and a nice shirt wouldn't hurt.SmbdyBringMeSomeHam wrote:I have a meeting with Dean Brown tomorrow after my classes end, and I'm wondering if I should dress as I would for an interview or if going casual is alright. My impressions of many Fordham Law male students: they dress very well. I don't see t-shirts too often.

I doubt it, school has never managed to kick me in the ass. Besides, the reason I want to start early is so I don't go crazy. I fully believe I will enjoy my time in law school.Gemini wrote:LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.dingbat wrote:I'll be at the next admitted student day, and would love to meet up then (either before, during, or after).Gemini wrote:

I just figured, I've got a lot of down time now and I'd like to put it to good use.
I do appreciate the fact that I won't understand what some things mean, but, hey, I've got to learn some time.
However, I have taken two graduate level law classes alreadyand work very closely with both in-house and outside counsel, including drafting documents and reviewing regulations, so I already know some stuff.
Besides, I don't only want the notes to start early (I doubt I'll get that much reading done over the next few months), but also as extra material / backup for when classes start in earnest
Anyway, no harm in asking...

Don't wear a suit. Also, many of the people in my section who busted their asses did way worse than expected and many of the people who didn't do shit pulled the As. I'm not trying to say that hard work doesn't pay off, but don't think that being the gunneriest gunner is going to get you As.

Re: Fordham c/o 2015/16 (2011-2012 Cycle)
You're assuming law school is like everything else. Most people in your class will be used to A's and maintaining a very high GPA. So school never "managing to kick you in the ass" is likely irrelevant for the purposes of a curved grading system like law schools have.dingbat wrote:

And although your experiences sound awesome, drafting documents and reviewing regulations doesn't help. Most people coming into law school have some sort of legal experience. There's usually a reason they want to go to law school, right?
I don't want to sound discouraging, but this is what it is.
Please, I beg you, enjoy your summer.
