I agree. LORs/CPEs are basically just a way for someone to testify that you are competent in some capacity. The interview is where your true social skills come to form; it really separates the children from the adults.jman77 wrote:I didn't send any...well, tried to send 3 after the fact but I don't think Northwestern ever added them to my file, and I got in.bk187 wrote:Hmm, I should have paid more attention. Essentially what happened was that there was conflicting information on LSAC and NU's law admissions site. One page said regular LORs are fine, the other said CPE forms were preferred/required. Something to this effect. NU basically acknowledged this, and I don't think people have been penalized for regular LORs as a result. This will probably be better enforced in later cycles. Many people have gotten in with regular LORs.
I think they weigh the interviews more significantly than the LORs/CPEs.

Just fyi, I didn't interview (abroad), and I still got in in a timely fashion. I didn't do the CPE thing either.

I didn't interview, submitted 2 regular LORs through LSAC (not the CPE thing), and got in in the 2nd batch. My numbers are decent but certainly not in auto-admit range, and I'm not abroad.Eugenie Danglars wrote:Just fyi, I didn't interview (abroad), and I still got in in a timely fashion. I really don't think they're counting LOR v. CPE against anyone this cycle.

Your 8 years out of UG presumably gaining WE might have put you into auto-admit rangerinkrat19 wrote:I didn't interview, submitted 2 regular LORs through LSAC (not the CPE thing), and got in in the 2nd batch. So, NU has so far issued no WLs, right? At least according to LSN: http://northwestern.lawschoolnumbers.com/statsswimmergirl1303 wrote:I hope so. But I'd guess its more likely to be Thursday or Friday...Hannibal wrote:Tomorrow is the theoretical big batch, yeah?

Does anyone know how to make them receive LORs after you've already submitted?

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
If you look back in the thread or the other NU thread some people tried to do this but once LSAC sends your file, if you did not originally include LORs NU will not accept them since they are not required.swimmergirl1303 wrote:Does anyone know how to make them receive LORs after you've already submitted?

Me too. The thread popped up and I was thinking, "Well fuck, there goes a productive afternoon."krad wrote:Ohai, I got all excited when TT popped up today
Part of me is sad that there is no news, part of me is glad I'll be able to work.

The afternoon isn't nearly over, but if we go past today without our 8-week decisions, it'll show the 8 week thing was more of a guideline than anything.

Or they could send them put tomorrow, having given their adcomm exactly 8 weeks. Or they could send them Friday and still have them out within the 8th work week.Hannibal wrote:The afternoon isn't nearly over, but if we go past today without our 8-week decisions, it'll show the 8 week thing was more of a guideline than anything.

OK, so I sent in a late app to NU. Is there a status checker?

Yes, it's a weird one too. It involves your last name, last 4 digits of your SSN, and an ID number they give you. It's also not very helpful for updates.neonx wrote:OK, so I sent in a late app to NU. Is there a status checker?

Thoughts on whether we'll hear anything today? Or, do we think tomorrow is the big day? Of course, as others have mentioned, it might be that the "8 week" thing is more of a guideline and not an absolute timeline. We'll see soon enough....

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I had my first actual dream sequence about A law school last week, but it was Duke, not NU, even though NU is my real "dream" school. Strange... subconscious is messed up. It's weird how vivid a dream can be about a place you've never been. Composite images of things experienced elsewhere? No idea...
