I know I am a little late but where on earth is everybody living??? According to daviswiki, there aren't any "nice" places to live.
Any suggestions from current/past Davis students? I'm looking for a QUIET and CLEAN (no roaches or mice) 1 bedroom, that is fairly close to campus (within 10 miles) and under $900/month. Does such a place even exist???
Help?!? Please!

Hey!
Honestly when I was looking I didn't find very many 1 bedroom places that were under $900 but I did see a few $850's scattered here and there... Try using padmapper.com, it's super helpful and makes searching for places much easier

Awesome, thanks for the rec. Sam! Where did you end up deciding to live? Like it?
Oh, and I am willing to spend a little more if it means that I get everything I want.

Oh davis, you left me on the dreaded waitlist, i've now disappeared into the black hole of waitlist nothingness. I wanted you but you didn't want me, I hope Hastings is as fun as i know Davis would have been.

It does not. I ended up finding a place last year at El Macero Village for $908. Very hard to find a one bedroom for less than $900 in Davis.

Found one! Apparently you just have to drive around Davis and look for the small (think 10 units or less), family/individual-owned complexes. My place is about a 5 minute walk to King Hall AND about a 2 minute walk to the "heart" of downtown for $900/month with hi-speed wifi/water/hot water/sewage/gas/trash/monthly pest control services all included...I am UBER Happy!
Now hurry up Intro Week...the anxiousness is killing me!

at the risk of sounding like an idiot, are we supposed to write down answers to the discussion questions in the intro week book or just "think" about them for class discussion?

Don't bother writing them down, and don't bother taking notes in class. Just do the assigned reading (at most, an hour per night) and listen in class. A chimp could pass the into week exam, and nothing you learn during intro week will determine success in other classes. Focus on getting piss drunk and enjoying one last week of fun before school starts.
how about listen in class and don't do the assigned reading?? will that work? eh? eh?

that's what i'm banking on
