Hey I submitted my app on early november and i had all the boxes checked right away I think.
But even now when a month has passed, I still am "completion pending"..
Any idea?

I am getting pretty frustrated waiting..i don't even know if it's worth holding out any hope that acceptances will come out later today.

My guess is there isn't any real rhyme or reason to anything happening at the moment. I should just get on with my life and when the mail comes, it comes.

Separate question: If you're wait-listed as an ED applicant, what would you say the odds are of a later acceptance? I know it depends on numbers, but wondering if anyone has any general observations.

Maybe Columbia's standards aren't all they are cracked up to be after all. (note: don't freak out...I'm kidding)

The impression I get from TLS is that if you get deferred to RD or waitlisted, it's basically a soft rejection.

I think schools are being over cautious. Lots of movements later on when they realize we are actually smaller as a pool (total LSAC applicants) by 10-15%.

Oct. LSAT # is down 10% (LSAC data). Waiting to see Dec. registration numbers. More people are retaking too trying to get $ or better schools, so the actual number of test takers this cycle may even be lower (hence 10-15% figure).

Good to know, thank you. I would've guessed numbers would be higher with more people trying to stay in school and avoid having to find a job in the poor global economy.

yeah, I think Oct #(10% down) can be a good estimate. Many people take Oct test each year anyway to get $ or better schools, so that probably won't have as big of an effect.

Plus, 1) the economy was in a worse situation 1.5 years ago than now 2) post-law school looking not too bright helps to keep the app # down.

Last year LSAC applicants increased 4% and lots of people retook. This year numbers are dropping back down. Not quite pre-2009 levels probably due to retakers, but it's nice to see it drop. We can expect applicants with each score to be dropping, close to proportionally. If that holds we can expect 350 less people with 170 scores spanning 3 tests. That's pretty dramatic considering many T14 classes are smaller than 350 (171k x 2% x 10%).
