i've been lurking on this post for the past few days and u guys are seriously scaring me with ur gpas... miami is definitely one of my top choices but my gpa is 2.79 (LSAT 165). i haven't applied yet, i'm registered to retake in Dec. and hoping a higher LSAT will give a better shot. does miami prefer higher gpas than lsat? bec if thats the case, i'm screwed...

also, does miami give out $ to people with gpa below 3.0?

I think you get in, but doubtful on any $ (hopefully someone can prove me wrong?).

So I just called Miami because I hadn't gotten any type of confirmation from them, and they said a decision had been made (I applied 3 weeks ago). They said the decision was in the mail, but I am home for Thanksgiving and won't be back at school for a week! Do you think there is anyway I could call back and get them to tell me the decision over the phone??

In at Miami! Its nice to get some love from my alma mater, but unless all my other schools are seriously unaffordable, I won't be going. Love the U though; will miss awesome football games, beautiful campus, etc. Just wish they had a better law school.

By the way, does anyone know when they send out scholarship notifications?

Applied 9/28 and haven't heard anything, so placed a call, and they told me they're still waiting for my Sept LSAT. Since I did one point worse ( ), I decided to have them review my app ASAP. At least it explains the long wait.

I was accepted last year and received a non-binding one year deferral. I Just withdrew earlier this week, so there is one more open seat. I assume this also opens up my scholarship to go to someone else. Good luck to all

It was $23k/year conditional on maintaining a certain GPA or class rank (I do not remember that specific caveat, though). I found UM to be exceptionally generous and friendly to deal with. The admissions process was great; the staff makes all the difference. If you want to live and practice in South Florida, UM is an excellent choice. I'm just not keen on South Florida and the Miami area in general. I've lived in the area for about 12 years and I'm very ready to leave :p

how easy was it to get a deferral? I heard it can get pretty hard to let schools give you one.
