I ended up putting mine there, and I don't think it will eitherzeglo wrote:Optional essay looks to be only for diversity statements. I used the addendum. It looks like mine was actually four small paragraphs, about 3/4 of a page. Oops. Anyway I don't think it will matter.RamTitan wrote:Where did people attach their why Northwestern essays? I prepared for all of the questions mentioned above, and got none of them except Why Northwestern. It seems like the question bank is rather large, but the preparation was helpful anyway for thinking of broadly-applicable situations.
I'm living abroad and would have liked to do off-campus, but couldn't sort a time to meet with the interviewer. Usually video interviews feel awkward, but these questions were pretty fun.

Did anyone do the optional essay? How did you differentiate from what you wrote about in your PS?

Is it recommended to be super specific or general when responding to the required questions in the application (career interests immediately after law school & long term career goals)? I'm a KJD, still very undecided, but have a few general interests.

I think they understand that most students aren't going to have a decided path until they are actually in law school, so it's okay to be general I think. I don't see anything wrong with being specific either, but I don't think it matters.jlet0314 wrote:Is it recommended to be super specific or general when responding to the required questions in the application (career interests immediately after law school & long term career goals)? Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Did anyone request an off-campus interview? I did so, thinking it would be a more personable alternative to the video interview, but I just found out that my interviewer is literally 200 miles away from me. I find it hard to believe that NU has literally no one in my city -- which certainly does not lack for lawyers -- willing or able to interview. Has anyone else had or heard of something similar happening?
I'm wondering if something like this would be worth emailing them about; if I'm going to be sinking so much time and money into travelling just for an (ultimately optional) interview, at that point I may as well travel to Chicago instead.

I was going to request off-campus but when I saw the list of locations, the nearest to me was like 3+ hours away. Leaning towards just doing the online interview because I can't convince myself driving 6+ hours total for an hour or so long interview is reasonable. To be fair, I currently live in Wyoming so

Interviewed last week, it was super laid back and we mostly talked what I wanted to do with my law degree and how Northwestern could help with that. I'm K-JD but wasn't really pressed on why I would be able to make meaningful contributions to classroom dialogue without work experience. I'm sure the interview experience varies based on your interviewer.

I don't think so. I think it's important to keep in mind how much schools have to work to have the numbers they have. NU was generous with the money last cycle, so I wouldn't worry too much.neubyneu wrote:Does the fact that my GPA just got swallowed by the new 75th percentile mean I can kiss a full ride goodbye?

Is anyone else struggling to find an on-campus interview slot? I'm applying ED and wanted to do an on-campus interview, but everything before the deadline is taken. I really don't want to do the video interview. Would it help to email the admissions office?
