Yeah, I'm not holding out any hope for Berkeley at this point. I'm not even to FR yet since I applied on the late side, but I wish they'd just put me out of my misery.drblakedowns wrote:I got my first ding of the cycle from Berkeley. I am not super surprised given (the myLSN graphs seem to suggest) that they are not splitter friendly and seem to have a GPA floor, but dings are not ideal.
On the other hand, at least it's an answer.

The hype is real. It's been weeks since I heard from any of the 6 remaining schools in any capacity.

Definite splitter with 3.93 pga and last 165. In at UVA,Penn, Berkeley,Michigan. No dings yet. Not sure what that means.

Re: Splitters in Limbo
My working definition of a spitter: if there is at least one school where you are LSAT >= 75th and GPA <= 25th, you are most likely splitter.
Reverse splitter would go the other way.

So at this point I just know my apps are in limbo 110% b/c of my numbers (multiple schools have started responding to people who applied a while after me), so is it because they know it's a ding and there is no rush to get back to me, or I am sitting in the maybe pile? I know i'm asking a question that is almost unanswerable, but generally what does it signify when a decent amount of people start getting answers before you even with later apps?

Re: Splitters in Limbo
Yeah, all we can really do is speculate. That being said, I figure no news is at least better news. Maybe they're leaning toward a ding but waiting to see what happens with the people they've already admitted? Not sure why that wouldn't equal waitlist, but who knows really? As long as you don't get a ding you're still in the game.tezzeret wrote:So at this point I just know my apps are in limbo 110% b/c of my numbers (multiple schools have started responding to people who applied a while after me), so is it because they know it's a ding and there is no rush to get back to me, or I am sitting in the maybe pile? No new is good news until all the freaking spots are taken lol. Not to mention, not hearing back at all isn't even equivalent to the WL, it's worse. Also I found an interesting article which supports my theory about numbers resulting in waiting an eternity for a decision http://www.deloggio.com/completing/early%20myth.html

Hoping at least some of the schools I've applied to will start putting me out of my misery soon (though acceptances would be cool too) so I can get a firmer grasp of what my options are. I hate waiting.

Agreed. Would rather get a few more solid dings from my reach schools so I can stop wondering.tsujimoto74 wrote:Hoping at least some of the schools I've applied to will start putting me out of my misery soon (though acceptances would be cool too) so I can get a firmer grasp of what my options are. I've only been waitlisted at 1 so far, accepted at 1, and every other school is like, "lol we decline to comment." (At least I'm pretty sure that's what they would say if they were telling me anything.)WatchClosely wrote:I got put on waitlists at like 8 schools, do I count?tsujimoto74 wrote:Am I the only one still waiting? Even a ding or 2 from my reaches to put me out my misery would be a relief at this point.

Waitlisted at UCLA and UVA, in at USC BU ND (only ones where I even remotely had a shot at not getting in, listing the other ones is pointless), waiting on Vandy and NW.
Outright rejected at Berkeley, but the whole sexual harassment thing softens that blow quite a bit actually.

I'm out at Berkeley and Yale, in at UVA, and still waiting to hear from Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, NYU and Northwestern. On the WL at Chicago, Penn, Duke, Michigan and Cornell.
I don't think I'm in "limbo," but I still feel like it will be a while before I know where I will be next fall.
