Any thoughts on whether it's poor form to go back for a second reconsideration after they already upped their scholarship? They upped my scholarship without me asking, then a few months later I went back and asked for more. They had no problem talking to me about it but eventually they said they could not up it anymore.DorcasPond wrote:Any thoughts on whether it's poor form to go back for a second reconsideration after they already upped their scholarship? IM guessing it would depend on whether or not you've received additional offers from other places since you last negotiated with them. I have a phone call with the dean on MondayDorcasPond wrote:Any thoughts on whether it's poor form to go back for a second reconsideration after they already upped their scholarship? I don't think it's bad form. It's just a final way to get all the information you can before you make a decision. When I first negotiated and talked with the Dean, they communicated to me that the first reconsideration may not be the only reconsideration, or at least that's the way I understood it. Meaning, I could go back later depending on how the class shakes out and get some more.bruceaquizzer1 wrote:IM guessing it would depend on whether or not you've received additional offers from other places since you last negotiated with them. They've already accepted you. They aren't going to see you once you start school. And they know that people are out here trying to get the best deal they can. I plan to get all of my ducks in a row and go back one more time after the open house and see what happens.

Wow, thanks for all of the advice!! I was leaning towards reaching out to them again, since I was just offered full tuition at a peer school, but I definitely feel better knowing I won't be the only one! The dean and admissions office seemed really nice over the phone and at ASW, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't step on any toes by seeing if they'd bump up the extra. Thanks again, everyoneredfred22 wrote:I don't think it's bad form. It's just a final way to get all the information you can before you make a decision. Anyone had luck yet on a second reconsideration? With people withdrawing and the deadline to deposit coming soon, was thinking they may be open to a little more negotiating and wanted to see if anyone had any luck with that.

Re: Washington & Lee C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
90% employed is a little misleading though. Much better to just look at the full-time, long term employment.didgeridoo92 wrote:Looks pretty good!bruceaquizzer1 wrote:W&L new employment data is up

131+11+1+1 = 144
144/174 = .83
So 83% employment. Sure, part time long term and full time short term could result in jobs, and it's good those people at least have a job, but we can't say for sure what their situation is and so shouldn't count that into the total. And it's hard to say what the start-date deferred people will be doing when they start... full time long term? part time? short term?
77% for bar passage required jobs. 18% big law. 4% Fed Clerkship rate. 16% Total clerkship rate.
To compare to last year: 74% employment (83% this year); 64% for bar passage; 17% big law rate; 5% fed clerkship rate; 13% total clerkship rate.
But remember, this last graduating class was one of the biggest they have ever had (and some say part of the reason that they slipped in the rankings/shot themselves in the foot/have had some issues which have led to some different administration). So they must have been working REALLY hard to make sure graduates had jobs.
Let's hope that carries over to classes graduating and coming in now. They are back to much smaller class sizes. And it seems that the people in charge now are really working for the students and to make the law school the best it can be.

I did, technically. They increased it from 35k/year to 36.5k/year. So, although not much, definitely worth at least attempting to renegotiate. Although I'm not sure if it counts as a "second" reconsideration. My first attempt they just said no and told me to ask again in March/April.redfred22 wrote:Anyone had luck yet on a second reconsideration? Do you mind me asking what your stats were? I just got bumped up from 35K to 36K as well.TexasHays wrote:I did, technically. They increased it from 35k/year to 36.5k/year. Yeah I asked for one back in like March. Then they gave me a decent increase, and made mention that there could be more after the deposit deadline because they need to see who attends and their budget etc. So I'm thinking I'll go back after this week.TexasHays wrote:Sure. 165/3.2rsmithpt267 wrote:Do you mind me asking what your stats were? I wouldn't say so.playswc wrote:has anyone got off the waitlist yet?

Although it was two years ago, I applied and was waitlisted. Ended up getting in with about $25k per year. Of course, that was when W&L was really facing some bad times. Not sure how it might work now.
