Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
For LA in general, you will need a car. Our public transit sucks. But if you live on the westside, and do not mind not exploring LA during law school, then you can use public transit to get to class.ruizdaw wrote:americanpirate wrote:Are you from LA? I did not have a car because I lived at the law school housing. But you definitely do not need a car. Uber is cheap, and everything is close by. Also, someone will have a car. If you want to explore LA, save it for 2L/3L.
I'm leaning heavily towards L.A. or NYC because of the prospect of not having to deal with car payments/insurance/gas/maintenance is super appealing.
I know that's one way to offset the costs of living in a big metropolitan megoplex.

UCLA is severely underrepresented on TLS. If they are on it, they're usually lurkers.urbanist11 wrote:Congrats!!!jumbo2016 wrote:Admitted by phone call a little while ago!! Seriously freaking out! Thought I was going to be waitlisted or denied for sure![]()

Side note there's a c/o 2019 facebook page with ~40 people in it, so UCLA is clearly just underrepresented here on TLS

Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I would be very interested in a TLS vs. Entire Applicant Pool comparison in terms of size, scores, GPAs, schools applied to, and acceptances. LSAC if you give me the data I will happily produce said data.gobears!! wrote:Very true. Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
It seems as if UCLA is on the rise as far as reputation, rankings, etc. My (poorly informed) instinct is that that would make them less likely to YP unless a candidate was 180 4.0 and was obviously going to HYS. It seems in their best interest to admit higher scorers than to protect their selectivity. Yes, I know its in every school's interest to attract higher scoring people, but given UCLA's rising status this seems like maybe a stronger motivation to avoid YPing excellent applicants.benwyatt wrote:My LSAT is strong but my GPA is <25th.gobears!! wrote:
TWO!?! Wow. Maybe they are considering you for a scholly since you have strong numbers! I haven't even gone complete...
I think it's a YP move, honestly, since I don't really have ties to CA and didn't write a "Why UCLA". It really is a top contender for me though, so the total lack of love is disheartening.

Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
ask them. i'm pretty sure my PS was over their limit last yearmornincounselor wrote:Well, there is no information for student's with my numbers on mylsn, but I got a fee waiver so I'll give it a whirl.
UCLA is so far the only school that requires a max of 2 pages + double-spaced + 12-pt font. So I have to delete a full half-page from my polished PS. It's not going to flow as well now, that's for sure. 12 pt front looks so huge compared to 11 pt.
Anyone advice on which is better:
(A) Follow the explicit directions and cut half a page resulting in poor flow.
(B) Submit essay as is double-spaced 2 pages at 11 pt font
(C) Reduce to space-and-a-half make it 12 pt 2 pages.
