i was looking into it. Mine was the biggest they give according to them, and I did not get a full tuition scholarship. I am pretty sure they do not give full rides, they have not even given any scholarships usually, so I suppose getting one is great news.Dipper wrote:True story that Hastings doesn't offer full tuition scholarships?

Admitted via email on 03 Feb. I'm very fortunate that my tuition will be covered in full by the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Any other vets looking to go to Hastings?

Got my scholarship today. Even with the money Hastings is wildly more expensive than all my other choices

got mine today as well.
is it worth it to pay nearly 90k more over the three years to go here instead of full ride to usf or mcgeorge?
also- do folks know how they are with negotiating higher scholarships?
Thanks!

Would like to know the same. Also got full ride to McGeorge, and i eventually want to work in the ca central valley. Despite the rankings, I feel like both are thought of well here.

I've read on other sites that you'd be in a good position attending mcgeorge if you're planning to work in sacramento, and I would think this would probably extend to the central valley as well. I cant remember exactly where I was reading this, but it said that unless you plan to work in the bay area where you will be competing for jobs agains students from Stanford, Berkeley, hastings, etc, then McGeorge has a great reputation despite rankings.
As far as the experience with either school though, I'm not too sure. I chose to go to a tier three school for masters with full ride instead of a more expensive top name school and I deeply regret that decision. Lots of factors to consider beyond funding, but also have to be practical.

Hard to know how much. Because of the rolling admissions, and the cycle being almost over, the number of seats left that you are applying for is much smaller. Studies show that people who apply earlier do better in admissions, but that could also be because the better students are more organized and apply earlier (not to imply that you aren't organized/a good student!).
Either way, I think given where your numbers are you have a good shot!! Best of luck!!!!

Has anyone gotten a travel stipend from Hastings? I asked and they just never replied. It's too far for me to drive up and back in one day and I really don't want to have to pay for a hotel in SF out of pocket.

According to admissions, they do not offer travel stipends.

So I was awarded thier Chancellor scholarship which is 15k a year. They said this is their largest scholarship they offer. This can't be right because ive been awarded more money from schools ranked way higher. Is Hastings broke?

That's what I got as well. I don't think they give any higher than that. Check this out.Calbears123 wrote:So I was awarded thier Chancellor scholarship which is 15k a year. From their ABA disclosure, the did not give any full tuition scholarships last year:

# % # % # %
Total # receiving grants 804 76.9 %
Less than 1/2 tuition 740 70.8 %
Half to full tuition 64 6.1 %

75th Percentile grant amount $ 16,800
50th Percentile grant amount $ 15,800
25th Percentile grant amount $ 14,450
I think part of the reason why Hastings doesn't give big scholarships is because they can rely on large numbers of students wanting to go there anyway because they want to be in SF.

You can join the military for three years and then get 100% of your tuition covered... just sayin'.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
