Obviously I can't guarantee anything, but I doubt you have much to worry about with those numbers. Depending on In-state or Out of State will change how much scholarship you get. I would expect to hear something shortlyCurious Applicant wrote:Went under review on February 26. Any idea when I might hear something? GPA and LSAT are 3.01, 169.

Got my scholarship info yesterday. I live 5 minutes from school so everybody should be getting something soon.

I can't tell if it was worse waiting on the acceptance or the scholarship letter.

Re: University of South Carolina Law Class of 2018
Scholly letter arrived today (I'm in state). To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Granted, in-state tuition is low, but I hoped I would be offered much more $$ since my scores were well above the 75%. Even though I am from South Carolina & have plenty of ties here and to the school, I cannot see myself paying the same to attend USC as other higher ranked schools in the region that have offered me much better scholarships. I plan to see if they are willing to negotiate, as I do have some strong offers to bring to the table, but I am not very optimistic at this point. Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear back!

I know you didn't ask for advice, but I will tell you I was in the exact same position last year. I'd just say really think about where you want to end up. If you see yourself back in SC, please message me because I truly believe that staying in-state will give you your best options, and I can let you know about my thought process from last year. If you see yourself off in bigger or better markets, by all means go for it!bluehose wrote:Scholly letter arrived today (I'm in state). To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. USC will not negotiate scholarships (they very strategically allot the little they have), but please have a good think about where you want to practice. I too was reluctant (and had offers from top schools), but am happy with my choice overall.

Admitted but still no scholarship offer in mail. I have been offered half to full scholarships to significantly higher ranked schools. Am still expecting full offer from usc but delay has me worried.

Re: University of South Carolina Law Class of 2018
I got a letter two days ago with an in state equalizer and merit scholarship.. the name of the award and the explanation of how it works was a little confusing because it calls it basically a tuition waiver and then says if I obtain residency I will be able to keep the merit part of the award but it doesn't break it down how much that would be. It also looks like it would still cost more than in-state tuition if I didn't become a resident.
I'm withdrawing in a couple weeks anyway for my state school so good luck to everyone and to whoever gets this money!

Came home to letter stating "we are unable to offer you a scholarship offer". Withdrawing my application now.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you will be happy at Wake or UNC. Like AYL said earlier as a state school USC has limited funds to offer. I understand that doesn't make it any cheaper for you or other students but thats a bit of the reasoning behind the scholarship offer people will be receiving.KStone1 wrote:Came home to letter stating "we are unable to offer you a scholarship offer". Got the instate equalizer the other day. I am pretty happy with that and will most likely work toward declaring residency if I choose USC. Still waiting on UNC, but they're pretty neck and neck right now.
This is really random but, does USC not have a place to pay the deposit online with a card? I looked earlier and was going to call later today, but didn't know if someone else had already fully investigated. I try not to leave very important life changing documents up to snail mail if I can help it haha

99% certain you have to write a check. Send it by registered mail if you want to be sure it arrived!Wendelsr wrote:Got the instate equalizer the other day. Ok Cocks,
Its time to get our Facebook page up and running. It requires at least one friend in the group before it can be created, so... If you pm your name I can add you and get the group started or someone else with USC friends can start the group.

For those of you that care, what we did last year was make a page here on TLS in the "Class of 2017" section and once we had a group of people who were going to attend we started the Facebook page that way. Just a thought.Wolfman wrote:Ok Cocks,

For those of you headed to ASD this Saturday if you have questions feel free to PM or just ask on here. I know decision time is looming which can be pretty stressful.

Just got down in Columbia for ASD tomorrow. What're yall wearing for ASD? It's supposed to be pretty warm out by the time the afternoon rolls around, and I was planning on keeping it pretty casual. Khakis and a button down at the absolute most unless yall suggest otherwise.

Y'all are both good. Those suggestions work, you will likely see at least one person in a suit, but most wear a polo or button down. I wore a button down and a pair of khakis last year and seemed to be pretty much in line with the rest of the folks there.Jrstark wrote:Just got down in Columbia for ASD tomorrow. Hooray! You'll probably have a number of rising 2 and 3Ls request to join (especially your future peer mentors), but just make sure you do a reasonable check to see if they're actually in USC law. You'll get parents, randoms, porn robots, and sunglasses robots requesting to join all the time. Also, might want to make it a private group because otherwise all y'all's posts will be in everyone's news feeds.Wolfman wrote:The Facebook Page is up!
