I just got the email this morning that they received my application (sent 9/2) and the status checker says my application is under review! That seems oddly quick. Normal?

It took ten days for them to send an email acknowledging that you submitted an app? That seems like an oddly long time. I was worried something went wrong with mine cuz I submitted on Thursday and still have no email from NYU. Penn and Duke sent confirmations within hours. Although the fact that its under review already...yeah thats pretty quick.

It took them 3 days to acknowledge me. Trust me, with your stats they will be throwing cash money at your feet in no time.

Question- if you apply for the named scholarships does it hurt your chances of getting merit aid?

Officially, no. A good friend applied for a named scholly, did not get it, got 0$ initially, then negotiated and got way more. If you are passionate about one of the named schollies, i'd absolutely apply. Just be aware that you might have negotiate a bit.

Should I be writing a response to the "Under-Represented Group" essay question if I'm already writing a PS and AnBryce essay that should capture my diversity adequately (first gen, SES, Mexican-American)?

No, I didn't and I was in the same boat.

No, I didn't and I was in the same boat.

I'm playing around with multiple drafts of each document. I spoke to a dean the other day and they confirmed that each committee (Admissions, RTK, Anbryce) can see your full application, including each program's essay. He says as an admissions person, he reads everything, but every committee doesn't necessarily read documents outside of their program's requirements, but they could in principle.

So I was thinking Anbryce=Economic status, RTK = specific kinds of public service I'm interested in and why, DS= Experience with race in America, Personal statement = why I want to be a lawyer in America generally and my professional experiences.

It's a lot, and I don't know that I would write more than 500 words for any one of these. I don't really know what I'm going to end up doing, but I'm experimenting with doing all four to paint as complete a picture of myself as I can.

Of course, the differences in essays might end up being marginal and not worth the effort.

Interested, but the most recent winners seem wayyy more experienced than me (like the Furman Professor people). Plus I'm more interested in lit than policy and, on the off chance I got in, I don't think I could sell it to them.
