I would strongly advise against living downtown, but that's just my opinion.amw5471 wrote:I didn't end up applying to Penn State because I am a recent alumna with too many friends that will be up there for 5th and 4th years and I just don't trust myself to behave well.
The weather is absolutely terrible. I would want to live within walking distance of the campus/CATA bus loops because driving there can get dicey and the bus routes like the V etc don't run very efficiently. Check out the Allenway and the Glemland Building. They are both down town and are not for undergrads. The Allenway is LOVELY and right on Allen street.
I have to say, as a PSU grad who probably got my current job because I am a PSU alumna the network is strong. It doesn't matter if you just went for graduate or law school, Penn Staters like to promote their own people and once you are a "Nittany Lion" you are considered one of the family.
The law school runs a little different than the rest of the school, and you can always use your own judgment if the weather is bad and you can't drive in. That said, there were only a handful of time over my 3 years when I really thought I shouldn't drive to campus.
Anyway - if anyone has any questions, I am an employed recent grad and would be happy to tell you whatever I can about the school or life after law school
