Does anyone know the possibility of being accepted (based on knowledge or prior experience) w/ a 155 & 3.55?? Thanks!

Anybody know what it means when your under review date changes and the note up top about "a final decision can take up to 4 weeks" disappears? Is a decision imminent?

I was accepted over 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything about scholarships yet. I've asked, twice, and each time they said that I would get something within the week. I'm instate with a 168 so hopefully they can offer me something competitive. I just worry that I haven't heard from them.
Is this normal behavior from Iowa?

Yeah. I got mine right around now when I applied in early November. Depending on your GPA, that should warrant a full-ride I'd imagine. Don't rely on that, but definitely stay hopeful.cmilleruni wrote:I was accepted over 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything about scholarships yet. Accepted 2/10/2014, no word on scholarships yet. Will potentially be seeing some of you next fall!

So I got $$$$ from Iowa, and if it's my biggest scholarship offer, I'd probably have a hard time saying no. But they say I have to accept by April 1, which seems super early to me. I may not even have decisions from some T14's by then and other schools ASW are after then. Can I ask them for an extension?

Yes. But, really, they are just asking for a deposit by then. It's not like the can do anything worse than keep your deposit if you decide to go somewhere else.AceDeuces wrote:So I got $$$$ from Iowa, and if it's my biggest scholarship offer, I'd probably have a hard time saying no. It's been a month to this day since acceptance and still no $$$ yet. I'm in state and have inquired twice, both times I was told that I would hear within a week (I last inquired 2 weeks ago). I'm a splitter with a 168. Any advice on how to proceed from here?

That's weird. Politely ask again, I guess.cmilleruni wrote:It's been a month to this day since acceptance and still no $$$ yet. Re: University of Iowa C/O 2017 Applicants
If anyone is looking for a place to live, or knows anyone that is looking, PM me. I've got a 4 bed/2 bath house in Coralville I'm trying to rent out for next year. Great for a family or a group of students who doesn't mind a short (12-15 minute) commute to school and downtown.
Honestly, I'd just be patient. You can totally ask again, and maybe make sure they have the correct address and stuff. I'd imagine you'd get a full-ride with that though, really. In-state above LSAT medians are hard to come by.cmilleruni wrote:It's been a month to this day since acceptance and still no $$$ yet. Ask for an extension. I know they will give extensions if you ask for one very politely.AceDeuces wrote:So I got $$$$ from Iowa, and if it's my biggest scholarship offer, I'd probably have a hard time saying no. Was just put on the preliminary wait list a couple of days ago. I am going to submit a LOCI and updated transcript as well.

I ended up getting 10k/yr
168 splitter in-state
There is a reason why the highest achieving Iowans are leaving the state.

Call and negotiate. What's your GPA?cmilleruni wrote:I ended up getting 10k/yr

Edit: Also, what scholarship offers do you have from peer schools?

applied 2/23, accepted 3/7. They're efficient in Iowa!

Your tuition would be $11,000 and change per year. If you're too severe a splitter, that's a pretty good deal. If you can show them scholarships from UW-Madison, UMN, Notre Dame, WUSTL or UIUC (aka the competition), that will help your case.chrisbru wrote:Call and negotiate. I have $$ at UMn and WashU so that shouldn't be a problem. What is a problem would be me paying 11k/yr + living expenses for a degree from Iowa. Their apps were down 46% last year and their ranking drops each year. It's sad to see my home state in such a mess like this but I have about 11,000 reasons to leave Iowa.DportIA wrote:Your tuition would be $11,000 and change per year. So leave? If you have better offers from higher ranked schools, why even bother?cmilleruni wrote:

Agreed. Either you really are not interested in Iowa and you should withdraw so another candidate can receive the scholarship you've been offered...or you're just letting your disappointment at not getting the offer you wanted manifest in negativity. If that's the case, why not try to negotiate a better scholarship? I would check the sense of entitlement first either way.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
