Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Question - for those of you who submitted ED - how did you upload the signed ED agreement? The application page says PDFs aren't permitted - I don't know how else to submit a scanned, signed ED agreement. Could anyone help?

Hmm I tried uploading a jpg but it said jpg wasn't a supported file type. I'm just going to directly email the admissions office with the pdf. Thanks for your help though!

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Could use some advice: I'm about to apply ED to Penn and UVA is my second choice. Am I better off waiting to hear back from Penn and if waitlisted/rejected submitting an ED to UVA? or just applying ASAP to UVA regular decision. I know the earlier in the cycle you get an application in the better...

Checking in -- I sent in my app last month; it took about 10 days to be listed as complete.

I'd hold the app, ed boost to uva offsets the waiting. You can switch to ed from rd, but you risk them making a decision before you have the chancemccllln2 wrote:Could use some advice: I'm about to apply ED to Penn and UVA is my second choice. Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
It's definitely a more livable city compared to others of a similar size. I spent a year at Temple during undergrad, a couple miles from Penn. While Philly has its quirks and is grungier than some other cities, I definitely fell in love with the city. One of the best parts about Philly is the lower cost of living, and you can definitely find cheap housing around Penn's campus (university city/west philly). Penn is my top choice, and if I attend I'd be living in center city, which is Philly's downtown, a mile east of Penn. While this would be more expensive, rent is half of what you'd pay in NYC or DC for something comparable. The subway is alright, but definitely a lot grungier than NYC/DC. But, it's super cheap, like $1.55 (I think, they raised the price recently) flat rate. You definitely have to have street smarts, as Philly has a high crime rate. From personal experience, I never really had any problems when I was in Philly, and the area I was in up by Temple is a little worse than the area around Penn. However wherever you live you'll learn certain areas to avoid, but honestly if you're aware of your surroundings you should be fine. Penn has good security, and you can also call a shuttle if you need to. Philly has a lot for anyone, and Penn would be a good three years!lemons wrote:checkin in... penn's campus looks beautiful online, but i've never been to philly before. anyone have any opinions on the city?

Anyone know if this means we'll be getting decisions anytime soon? Some schools have already sent out acceptances

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Unfortunately, I don't think it does. I'm not expecting anything soon, although I was hopeful when we went under review so early. With the applicant pool being what it is, schools have more incentive to wait longer to see what else comes in, and with the binding nature of our apps, they have even more reason to hold off. I'd be happy to be proven wrong and see a decision soon though!tmanthedman wrote:ED applicant, also under review 10/2Clearly wrote:I also went under review, same date, ed.thenewguy wrote:just checked status for first time in a while, says "under committee review" and the date is 10/2. Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
based on last year's thread it looked like no one went under committee review until about 11/1 so I'm still just keeping my fingers crossed. But your point about the binding nature of our apps definitely makes senseClearly wrote:Unfortunately, I don't think it does. Checking in. Went to Penn for undergrad & loved it. I might apply to the second round of ED in Jan (depending on how my Dec LSAT goes)

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Penn is my #1 by far. My GPA is 3.48/3.49 and have not received the LSAT score yet (my last practice tests ranged from 168-173). With such a low GPA is it essential that I apply ED?
