Got one too. You don't need a score. I got an unsolicited one last cycle without a score.
Anyone knows if HYSC also grant non lsac fee waivers?

Yea they seemed super happy, and I don't care what the reason is because that's less money I have to spend. You also have to think that given the thousands of applicants, we represent a small percentage and I doubt many other people would think to even shoot them an email asking.mojangles wrote:It kind of seems like UVA is really happy to offer fee waivers to those that request - wonder if this is typical or they want to boost apps to hold their stats/boost selectivity this cyclesashafierce wrote:I was able to get a fee waiver without an LSAT score, I just emailed my LSAT Account# and some details about myself..i.e Bachelor, work experience etc.bee wrote:Probably a stupid question, but I definitely need to have an official LSAT score in order to request a waiver by email, correct? yeah, i guess that is true on all counts. primarily the part about as long as i am not spending my money on an app, their reason is really pretty irrelevantscotth724 wrote:Yea they seemed super happy, and I don't care what the reason is because that's less money I have to spend. Harvard doesn't, per an email response to a need-based waiver info request today: "Fee waivers are awarded on the basis of need only; there are no merit-based fee waivers."bee wrote:Thanks, trying this now.Amicus_Curiae2013 wrote:Got one too. I'm 99.9% sure HYS don't do merit based fee waivers.
FWIW, I solicited a need-based waiver from UVA today and got it.

Thanks to Daily_Double for alerting me to the new UVA medians for this cycle that just wrapped up:
3.87 GPA
169 (!) LSAT.

With that 169 it's no wonder they've been giving out waivers like candy

ETA: Amazing that they were able to maintain their exact same gpa median. Quite precise.
The last 3 years (classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015) they had 170 as the median. Looks like they couldn't maintain it this year.

ETA: Duke maintained its median LSAT (169), its 75th percentile (170) and lost a point on its 25th percentile (from a 166 to a 165). The GPA went up by one one-hundredth in both 25th and median (3.59 and 3.77 respectively) but lost one one-hundredth in the 75th percentile (3.84). http://law.duke.edu/admis/classprofile/
In other words nothing really changed for Duke.

Heh... I can drink a lot.Daily_Double wrote:I've visited before, but plan to again. When is everyone trying to stop by Charlottesville? I'll come by for a few days around Thanksgiving to check out Ivy, Jeffersonian, and local food/bars, if any one wants to grab a few drinks around then, we'll figure something out. And because I'm hyper competitive, if your highest LSAT is higher than mine I'll buy until you either fall down, embarrass yourself, get hiccups, or decide to switch to water.

UVA's fee waiver response time is insane. I think they got back to me in less than 20 minutes.

Random, but has anyone else ever considered how much money schools must make off of application fees? Especially a few years ago when everyone in the country was applying to law school?
Let's say a school receives 7,000 applications at $80 each (maybe they receive another 1-2k that they've waived the fee for). That's $560,000.
Crazy.

I think it makes sense though. Admissions committee salaries, meals, travel expenses, event planning, marketing materials costs, etc considered, the revenues from app fees probably barely break even.

I am having the same problem. It's extremely frustrating because I'm ready to submit now. I may just add the answers as an addendum.The-Specs wrote:Anyone else having problems with the UVA app?
