I don't think they section stack - at least not with scholarships. There sometimes seems to be trends within sections (my section seemed to lean towards older students, with more work experience; another leaned K-JD, and another leaned towards having more children of established, local lawyers), but these made it a bit easier in many situations, because you weren't talking to groups of people who had no idea where you were coming from.

As for the stips, they don't really give out scholarships with the expectation you'll lose them. If you've been given money, it's because the school wants you in its class, and you have potential to succeed during and after law school. Granted, there is no guarantee you will be in the top 10%, no matter how hard you work, but a stipulation of top 50% is not all that scary of a prospect (at least, it shouldn't be, especially when they give you a semester to bring your gpa above 3.0 if you slip up).

Congrats to everyone accepted - maybe we'll see you at the ASD!

Most likely attending DU next year, and I spent the week in Denver checking out apartments. I found a couple of winners, so if anyone is interested in a roommate, PM me. Additionally, if anyone can suggest some killer complexes, that'd be awesome.

My fiance and I are most likely attending DU in the fall. Can anyone currently at DU or that has lived there recommend any good apartments/neighborhoods to live in? I see that in the DU Admitted Students section there is a map of the Denver neighborhoods but that doesn't help me much since I've never been there and don't know which are good, bad, expensive, etc. We have a dog and a cat but they're both small so any place that allows pets should be fine. We're willing to drive from 20-30 minutes away to get to school. Thanks for any suggestions!

DU area is relatively affordable- just depends what you are looking for. As far as 2-4 bedroom houses, the best resource is probably Craigslist, using DU or University as a search tool. All the houses around campus are nice (with the exception of a few stinkers and some fancy spots). I lived three blocks from campus during UG in a 3br with a basement, which is the model of the majority of the houses.

Apartments are abundant around campus and vary in price. The three newest apartment buildings are Asbury Green, Vistalofts, and University Lofts. All are nice, but are priced more like downtown apartments than student housing. For all other apartments, I'd recommend Craigslist. They are a bit older, but near campus and definitely affordable.

Hope this helps!

Sent scholarship negotiation letter yesterday and they replied today saying that once their decision is made on amount they do not change it and they hold to their 3.0 stip which the letter says is about top 55-60%.

I emailed admissions to ask the same thing. Unfortunately they don't. They said they can't because if they did it for one person they'd have to do it for everyone.

How long is it taking people to hear back? I have been app complete/ready for review since 1/29. So far they are taking the very longest to get back to me!

The standard has seemed to be 5-6 weeks.

When I visited in December they said the cut off for merit aid is typically about 3.0 gpa and 159 LSAT.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
