Did you guys write the "why W&M essay"? I didn't and have been under review for a few days and haven't heard. Getting nervous/kicking myself for not writing it.

I did not but I wrote an extra essay for one of the fellowships

I haven't submitted my app yet, and I'm not seeing a space for a "why W&M" essay. Which essay are you referring to?

Is it not an optional essay? I could be getting it confused with another application.

The only optional essays I'm seeing are for the various fellowships. Of course, there's an optional addenda section where you can add anything you want, but there's no "why W&M." Don't sweat it, either way. Impact would be minimal.

My application is under review, however because of the storm admissions is really behind. So if you applied within the last two weeks the status updates may not happen. Some are being reviewed quicker than others.

On my status checker my application has been complete and in the review process since 11/08, however I just received an email saying that my file is complete. I received the same email last Thursday. Do you think this is just a glitch of some sort? My app status still says complete and in the review process, however in the bottom left it says that my application has been complete since 11/14 despite being complete and in the review process since 11/08 in the top left.

It might mean that it was sent for further review. I know that Berkeley does an initial review and at that point you can be accepted, rejected or sent to the committee for further review. When you are sent for further review you get a status update similar to this. Maybe this is the case here? Just a thought.

Seems reasonable. Thanks. Also perhaps the status checker is manually updated and the email is sent automatically and computer prompted. I know this is all baseless speculation but it is something to keep the mind busy while waiting for results!

I'm applying binding ED to Northwestern but W&M seems like an amazing school and I know getting in ED to NU is a stretch for me (3.72 LSDAS GPA/168, strong softs & LOR's) so I'm hoping for something good from W&M haha. Anyone remember how long it took for their application to be considered "complete"? Should I be concerned that something's missing?

mine took forever to go complete, then after it did I had a decision in something like 2 or 3 business days, and my numbers were almost identical to you (168/3.68) hope that helps ease your mind =)

I sent in my app on 11/2, received confirmation and my status checker 11/5, file complete email 11/7, and received my decision via email 11/13 along with notification via status checker that the acceptance package is in the mail. I didn't get a second file complete email.

Honestly, mine went from submitted to accepted so quickly I didn't check my status in between. I went from submitted to accepted in less then 10 days. I wasn't expecting anything at least until the end of the month so I hadn't even looked before I got the email. I know that isn't really helpful.

Got my acceptance packet in the mail today! I'm out of state but they offered me a graduate fellowship with in-state tuition, a $4k per year stipend, and an $18k per year additional scholarship, totaling $31,000 per year! I also did not write any additional essays
