What did you guys write about for your "Why ND" essay? Mine was about being Christian and wanting to study in that type of environment.
You?

Did you get your decision by email or snail mail?
I'm at / above their medians and got Waitlisted. Online was "Decision made" with the fees listed for several days before the snail mail came. I don't know if this is some messed up form of yield protection (I'm not that far above that it would be logical) or they just thought my application was absolutely awful, but I actually wanted ND pretty badly. Would love to talk to an admissions person right now, just for kicks, to know what happened. Very confused.

166/3.75, FWIW. At one median and above the other, figured I'd be in.
(THAT WAS A QUOTE, NOT ME, TLS WOULDN'T LET ME SUBMIT WITH ACTUAL QUOTE NOT SURE WHY)
But at least what I read in my WL letter it said they would be reconsidering only at the end of Spring, meaning no chance for the scholarship money it looks like others with very similar numbers got, and a very short period of time in which to say 'yes' once you've been accepted.
Frankly, am now vacillating between giving up completely and spending too much time on a "Why ND" LOCI. With work constraints the decision might be made for me, though.

Good to know I'm not alone.. Feel pretty dissed right now, haha. Did you write a Why ND? And what were your numbers? Really curious about what their reasoning was, I thought I had a good PS and at least average softs.Eva_Bates wrote: WOW.

Looking at LSN, though, people who got in off the WL in April were still offered some money, usually around 10k/yr

Honestly, I don't think that whining to them about it is going to help. They come right out and say on their website they don't negotiate scholarships, and I' not sure they'd be particularly keen on answering to you about why they didn't accept you. I agree it's weird though. What was your "Why ND" about?Paraflam wrote:Good to know I'm not alone.. Feel pretty dissed right now, haha. Did you write a Why ND? And what were your numbers? Lets be clear. I'm definitely not about to "whine to them". Give me a break. For my own curiosity I'd love to know their reasoning, but no, I'm not going to ask them (if that even needed to be clarified), nor I am going to "whine" that I'm "entitled to be accepted" or whatever nonsense you were thinking. I am grateful to even be considered and have the means and fortune in my life to be able to even think about law school. (Not meaning to be completely rude, just wanted to clarify that for TLS-ville as a whole).kdev1203 wrote:Honestly, I don't think that whining to them about it is going to help. My Why ND was a combination of things: what I can contribute to ND and why I feel ND is right for me. (Sorry if that's not more specific: not really sure how else to say it though w/o just posting all my essays/PS/etc up on TLS). With ND - and with all of the schools where I applied - I made a concerted effort to make sure they were really schools and locations where I would want to go to school, and used that knowledge in my Why ND: It definitely was not a regurgitation of their website or anything like. I didn't just apply to schools based on rank like I know many people do.
No one likes not getting accepted, I guess.
To be frank this entire process seems very chaotic and hard to get a handle on: the responses I've received definitely don't fit the pattern I thought they would. Frustrating, but I guess that's life.

Locking in for the wait on a decision. It seems like past cycles people had to wait a long time.
3.7/166 - Reasonable softs + a Why Notre Dame Statement
@Kdev - I wrote my why ND statement about why someone who is non-religious, pro-public education would want ND.

"Decision Made" for me today...nothing listed in the "Fees" section of my checker.
Could it be bad news with a 170+/3.5+?

Status just changed to "Decision Made"...
I live abroad...
Does ND only use snail mails to let applicants know?

Not sure if this is very good or very bad...went from "application complete" to "decision made" with NO in-between (and I check like 100x per day, so there's no way I could have missed it.)
163/4.16...I'd like to think I was an auto-admit for the GPA rather than an auto-ding for the LSAT....but who knows.....
Did this happen to anyone else?

Maybe they found something they really like in your application

I've been obsessively checking my status too.
Mine went complete on 11/6, and had two updates on 11/19 and 11/26 before they rendered a decision on 11/27.

This is pretty exciting. I'm going to check my mail for the next five day but won't take anything out unless it's a big envelope. No big envelope and I'll cry.

So, for you with decisions, was the average wait - 3 weeks?

Don't worry if your status checker does show the seat deposits. I was accepted and there were no seat deposit numbers before or after my decision was made. Also I am well below the LSAT median but above the GPA median and was accepted last week. Also, I didn't write a "Why ND" essay.

I don't even have LINES for seat deposits. It just has my app fee and then empty box underneath...I don't think I'm going to sleep until I get my letter.kthoma23 wrote:Don't worry if your status checker does show the seat deposits. Congrats. Its encouraging to hear you got in after not doing the "Why ND essay". I also did not do the essay but I specifically discussed Notre Dame in my personal statement.kthoma23 wrote:Don't worry if your status checker does show the seat deposits.
