Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Hello all,
I have been a long time visitor to this site, but now that I have submitted all the applications that I intend to, I feel I have the time to start posting as well.
My numbers are: GPA: 3.61, LSAT: 167, 177
I want my cycle to be both proof and hope that softs can tip the scales in your favor when you are a splitter like me. I also believe that schools put the emphasis on the higher score, and hope my cycle goes on to show that as well.
I am applying to: Harvard, NYU, UChi, UMich, and Upenn.
Went a little off-topic. Checking in.

For those who submitted Sept. 15th, has anyone gone complete yet? My status simply says application received, although the LSDAS report was sent on the 17th.

Nope, and I don't expect to anytime soon. Harvard is a little strange in that the status checker traditionally goes straight from "received" to "under review," then they send out "complete" e-mails 1-2 weeks after changing to "under review."harttrek1 wrote:For those who submitted Sept. 15th, has anyone gone complete yet? And last year, the people who submitted on 9/15 didn't go UR until 10/13, and got their "complete" e-mails on 10/27.

See above. Evidently it usually just jumps to "under review" mid octoberlawschoolboundfuture wrote:For me, Harvard says received is that the same as complete?

When do JB1 invites start coming out? Has to be in October if there's some acceptances by November, right?

I believe they used to start in late October but iirc last year they didn't start until early November. And if you read the quote I inserted in the OP, you'll also see there's a chance they'll be starting even later this year, depending on what "no application will be considered before November" means and whether they stick to their word on that.

Yeah I think they used to be called JB1 (different dean). Is there some kind of notification or will she just call you out of the blue?

She'll email first. Does anyone know: would late October/early November phone calls be only for people who submitted in September? Like if my app goes complete in a week or two, how long should I expect to wait?Yukos wrote:Yeah I think they used to be called JB1 (different dean). Officially decided not to apply ED to Columbia. Is there any reason for me to apply to Harvard with 174/3.64? Or am I just throwing away $80? Be brutally honest, I'm not holding my breath for Harvard lol. Thanks!

This gives you a good idea of the sent, complete, and decision dates. I'd say if you submit mid october the earliest you'd hear back is late november.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
