they probably don't, especially now with decreased LSAT takers and USNWR's continued move away from score averaging.
I've been wondering about this, too - I'm a 167/176 so will make quite a big difference to me. Why can't we all just take highest score....?
I was 166/176 and got money. Though I did get in pretty late.
Your late acceptance was, most probably, because of your GPA rather than your first LSAT score. So, your late acceptance is not indicative of them averaging scores.
Better late than never, congrats! Thanks for the success story. I hope that everyone is right about highest score.

This is your LSN, right? http://lawschoolnumbers.com/izy223
I think you underperformed a tad. Did you negotiate with NYU? And what happened with CLS and Chicago?

Nice! Well done. Ha ok, I'll stop freaking out. I wasn't freaking out until I found this on the website... "they evaluate based on the average score in most cases."

honestly, you'd probably have a shot if they DID average b/c of that gpa. Though really, you have a shot at AnnBrycerocktower3 wrote:

As someone with a 172 (and well below 25% GPA), the NEW MEDIAN IS VERY RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS.

Re: NYU C/O 2016 Applicants Thread!!! (Woooooo!!!!!)
I would plan around the assumption that 171 is the median. 170 seems like an odd drop, particularly for a 173/169 split, and I really doubt we maintained 172. (not to mention, on the off-chance that the median somehow is 170, that's all the more reason for them to want to bump it back up to either 171 or 172 since I really doubt admissions would be content at keeping a 170 mid-point; planning around 171 seems like a fair bet.)shifty_eyed wrote:As someone with a 172 (and well below 25% GPA), the NEW MEDIAN IS VERY RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS.

i thought someone in one of these threads who goes to NYU was told it was 171. Obviously, still unconfirmed, but I wonder if we can get more info from the 1Ls there...

we were never told anything officially during orientation. We only got the 25/75. I'm sure one of us could stop by wilf and get it though. might be an awkward conversation though.99.9luft wrote:i thought someone in one of these threads who goes to NYU was told it was 171. Yeah, without knowing your GPA, I'd guess you have a decent shot (assuming it's not a really atrocious GPA). Drop in test takers and drop in apps from top performers = LSAT scores above or at median should grow in value relative to GPA. There are a zillion people with 3.7+ GPAs, accounting for all the schools in the U.S. plus grade inflation; not the case with good scores).shifty_eyed wrote:171 would be great news imoindigomachine wrote:I would plan around the assumption that 171 is the median. 170 seems like an odd drop, particularly for a 173/169 split, and I really doubt we maintained 172.
